I have a ranger its 1999 with a 3.0l v6 engine. i want to turn it into a 4.0 v6 and upgrade the 2wd to 4wd. now when i"m 18 i could buy a new car such as get a ranger fx4 with all that in.

the car now has 230,000 miles still on all stock parts and the ford dealership told me that the transmission needs a clean out as its a little gunked up but thats it.

basically i want to turn into an off road machine that i could trust.

 

Only way to convert that truck to 4wd, is to put a solid axle under it. Front suspensions are completely different...frames up front are completely differnet as well...

 

so i would basically be better off with a new truck then.
