2008 Lift Opinions

hey, fairly new around here, but i must say this site is where its at!! and by "it" i mean info, ideas, everything!!! cant say enough good things about this site!!

anyways had my 08 ranger for almost a year and a half now... love it to death, but ive been itching ever since day one to "spruce" it up a bit! my first drawback was when i found out that the FX4 LIIs were discontinued or whatever you want to call it.. and i was forced to settle for an FX4 with 255 wranglers, which has been eating me ever since day one... there is a lvl2 in my neighborhood with the 31 bfs and i basically drool whenever i see it, just adds that much more to the truck...

to the point!! i am torn between going all out ( first the "PreKey" mod and the bigger blocks in the back to revert back to a "real ranger") along with the superlift and most likely some 33s... now what is basicaly hindering me is #1 obviously the cost... ive priced out the superlift here in canada and one shop wanted like 2300 for the kit + install, plus tires/rims driveshaft etc.. so i figured that route would defiantly tally up pretty quick... also my other concern was losing power pushing 33s?? kinda enjoy the 'getup and go' that i have right now and just dont want to lose out on that with a larger tire... could anyone shed some light on this??

so, to tie me over until i save up some more coin, i figured after doing the "PreKey" mod, and the blocks in the rear...a nice set of 31 MTs would give me a bit more of an agressive look in the mean time... am i crazy to shell out coin for new tires and rims when possibly a year or two
down the road ill be replacing with 33s?
ive had my eyes on the BFG KM2s, because i figured they would be a nice mix between the BF AT and the MT, could anyone shed some light on my situation.. any input would be appreciated!!! truck is a DD and id say maybe 70% spent onroad and 30% offroad.

thanks!!

i say body lift it and do the prekey mod i am going to be doing the prekey mod next week.way cheaper then a super lift and by putting 31s on i think u will want to upgrade soon after. i have a 4 liter with 33s and i dont think they robbed much power dont really notice it that much. i love my km2s i would buy them again for sure and there not even that loud my dads procomp x terrains are way louder and i had roughriders m+s and those were super loud as well. just wait 4 your 33s i have even seen a few good sets rims and tires on kajiji for under $1000 theres a set of 5 mtrs with rims on there now for 1200 buck thats a really good deal.

The RCD is discontinued so you would have to find a used kit. Stay away from torsion key lifts.

sometimes i wish i wouldn't have lifted as much as i did. I think a ranger with AAL and a torsion crank with 31-32" mud tires would look killer. just my input before you drop 3 grand on a lift.

EXCEPT the PreKey mod. Putting '07 and older torsion keys on it. Yes....it may be considered one of those torsion key lifts...but it's factory, and NO OTHER parts changed. 2 people in 2 different locations confirmed this with part numbers. '08+ are factory lowered about 1.5". Putting 07 and older keys on it will gain you 1.5-1.75". Get you back to proper beginning height. And put 2.5" factory blocks in the back or put on a Belltech 6400 shackle.

Yes....stay away from those aftermarket torsion key lifts.

I don't consider it a normal crappy torsion key lift since its stock parts. I was talking about Daystar or ebay keys.
