I got a 1990 ranger 4.0 and has always had a little tick but now it has gotten really loud and goes with the rpms. I tolk off the value covers and everything is fine. I can't figure out why it's doing this and its really loud. But it quites when the engine warms up. Has anyone else had this problem?

check your lifters....one may be loose
