Coil Over Idea
Coil Over Idea
So i keep seeing people doing coil over swaps. I have an idea in my head but i dough it will ever happen just want to hear some info on it. I have no idea how much they cost or anything like that.
Here is my idea:
IM thinking of getting drop brackets or making drop brackets for around 6 inches of lift. Then have coil overs made to replace my coil springs and shocks.
I think these will perform better and ride nice.
I dont really want anything negative i just want to learn.
I guess i dont really understand the prices or how to order them. I have no idea what to order so that info would be nice or some idea.
Thanks
Cam

have them made for you, eh?
why not sas it if your going to go through all the troubles of making custom brackets?
and coil overs are expensive.... just thought i would fill ya in.
you gotta have the truck weighed
you have to figure out how much preload you want
what spring rate(s) you need if you do dual rate (2 springs stacked)
..start reading haha

have them made was a general term. Just order some to my specs or close to it. you know what i mean? i want to sas it but i think this would be a simple way. I know there expensive but i dont know how expensive.
not really.. your talking.. fab your own drop brackets then shock hoops for the c/o's... a SAS is damn near bolt up on your gen..
thats the plan when i get some money
Then why are you thinking of spending money on expensive coilovers?
IMO for an SAS you have the best candidate. I am actually going to look tomarrow at a TTB ranger just for that. A D30 bolted in, a nice set of 35's and I am set for a while.

im pretty sure they are all dana 44 i would have to look again.
This is in a personal yard of my buddys and there are pretty much nothing but classics because off all the cars they restore at the shop. My buddys uncle owns a restoration/collision shop.
There are a few newer cars and trucks up there too.

Only reason I am using a D30 is because I can get it for a case of beer. There are literally no EB's up here, so I am just going to save up for a regular coil sprung D44, and wheel the D30 in the mean time.
Well first of all, I am not Matt lol. I have a rather calm wheeling style, but I know how to use the skinny pedal, and when needed lol.
It probably won't be locked, I'll leave it for the rear. Worst comes to worst, I'll upgrade shafts. I might be out $300 bucks for them, but there are enough jeeps out here, that they would ****** them up in an instant.
I have 2 buddies running front D30 on XJ's with 35's. I figure that if a Jeep can do it, so can I.

hey fawker!!
and yea, I know of a few jeep guys running chromos on a locked D30 , one has 36" TSLs, the others have 35" KM2 and KM1s.. the KM2 owner previously ran MTZs. he's twisted the shafts a few times..
he said he'll upgrade once he has to start paying for the replacements haha
and i have a calm wheeling style too, idk where everyone gets this crazy romping idea from? Seriously. when i broke the D44 shaft i was being nice, the tire was just bound up in the rocks wrong.
