Added Shackles/Prekey to My 08 Superlift.. Before/After Pics :)

Hello out there everyone.
Well I got it done, I joined the bandwagon. I Did the prekey up front on my 2008 4x4. I also did belltech 6400 shackles in the rear, both of which were done on top of my existing Superlift. I like the results :). Can't remember before and after measurements of fenders etc, cause I was stupid and didn't write them down :(. I do know these figures.
- before prekey/shackles, back end was 3/4" higher than front.
- from ground to bottom lip of front bumper was 17"
- ground to bottom lip of front bumper is now 19" (maybe 1/8" under 19)
- back end is now about 1" higher than front.

In theory then... the front end was raised say 2"... that would then mean the back was raised 2-1/4"?? correct me if Im wrong, it was a long day. I coulda sworn the shackles are only expected to give 1-1/2" lift, I'm gonna recheck all my measurements later, and get actual top of fender numbers as well. Now I'm really lookin forward to gettin my 16x10 pro comp 97's, thats all I know

Thanks all.. now If only my god damn rims would come in... and my driveshaft.... and if only I could just.... nudge my fender flares off to give the appearance of an even wider stance when the new rims come in... yes... all in due time :)

looks to me like you're not runnin flares.. I like that look better lol. Have you seen how far the flare extends on the rear of my truck!, with those flares I'd need to add a pair of probably 1"+ wheel adapters to the rear to make em look the same as the front tires :(

Im not... but I wish I was! I really like the look of the 06+ flares.

Just FYI, your fenders have holes in them for the flares to bolt into, so taking them off is going to be a chore

they're just plastic plugs that'll either pop out of the hole with enough force, or break in the process.. so it's more of a process of just rippin the flares off (gently ). the biggest downside would be the holes in the body.. but I'd eventually get them filled and the fenders repainted if I liked the flareless look enough to keep the flares off.

HUGE difference!! I would just have the stock wheels painted DSG to match paint. You going to be selling them?

Don't think I'm gonna sell em. Probably gonna put the old at's on as backup tires... or to run when these mt's wear out If i can't afford new 33's at that point

Seemed like I was havin enough trouble finding even a 4 BS... though I think it was honestly more like... I saw.. I wanted, I got... Or am waiting to get I should say...
And If i wasn't worried about rubbing issues with full lock turning, and cops pullin me over cause I just cracked their windshield or sprayed them with mud, I would've gone smaller BS... (BTW, there is a law here about how far out of the wheel well your tires can extend.. I've heard 2.5" is the legal max.. though I've also heard 0" is the max??)

This is what the Highway Traffic Act for Ontario has to say about fender flares:

"Every motor vehicle and every trailer shall be equipped with mudguards or fenders or other device adequate to reduce effectively the wheel spray or splash of water from the roadway to the rear thereof, unless adequate protection is afforded by the body of the motor vehicle or trailer or by a trailer drawn by the motor vehicle."

It's pretty vague so depending on the cops in your area, you can probably get away with a lot... here in Ottawa there are lots of trucks that have tires sticking way past the fenders.

Here is the website if you want to take a look at the "rules":
http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/sta...es_90h08_e.htm

BTW.. your truck looks awesome.

thanks for posting the rules... they're damn vague.. so definitely something where it's just a question of what the cop wants to do. I have a feeling in most cases they'll leave you alone as long as you don't have more wheel sticking out the fender than you have in the fender... and I have a feeling if they were to see you doin burn outs down the road with huge globs of mud sprayin all over, or if you were shootin rocks out a cop drivin behind you, then you're gonna be a lot more likely to end up with a ticket. So the best thing is to just not be a jack *** on the road and draw attention to yourself?

Yup... that's what I would think. If you don't give them a reason to pull you over, they won't bother you about tires sticking out.
The only time you may have to worry about it is every now and then the cops will to a "blitz" where they target modified vehicles... but even then, you would have to be pretty unlucky to get a ticket for fender flares.

Your truck looks great!
I think the 15x10's will look too wide, personally.
I like the looks of 8" wheels much better.
