Ok guys so I am going to be getting the Screamin Demon coil pack, performance wires set, and new plugs. I think that is going to help a good bit with my truck but I am also set on getting the underdrive pulley set for $199 on Wayne's site. Just wanted to know what you guys thought about the pulley set just as I asked in another thread about the coil pack. I am convinced I should feel a nice change in the feel of the truck with these couple of things combined and just wanted to see what you guys thought? Would this be a good investment of almost $400 for all these things. Also, anyone have the 1:7 roller rockers and if so how hard were those to install and was it worth it? i have heard many good things about the coil pack and the pulleys and planing on doing them too

as far as rockers I have heard good things about them to and bad things like if you were to use them on a daily driver, that you have to keep adjusting them and if this statement is wrong i would love to hear your side , and with putting them in the truck.... the hard part is getting to the rockers

but as wires and plugs , i when to stuffforyourranger.com and got the there wires and for plugs i got the E3 plugs Spark Plugs | Automotive Spark Plug | Motorcycle Spark Plugs | E3 Spark Plugs

it made a difference you can feel, i would recommend this combination
and get the Screamin Demon coil pack FTW

 

I've heard great things about the rockers. Those and the UD pullies are the best bang for your buck mods you can do.

 

I have the underdrive pulley set, coil pack and wire set all from Wayne. It gave a nice increase. I still want to get the rockers and tuner to finish it off though.

 

Kinda O/T here but does the original crank pulley have a balancer/dampner on there? Ive heard horror stories about people replacing balancer pullies with U/D ones and later cracking the crank.

Same here, Would hate to have it not liek me after I do my own UD's.. That is my one major concern - to see if theres any issue on the crank after swapping into a new pulley

Stop worrying. The 3.0 crank pulley doesn't include the dampener so you don't have to worry about it being off balance. The 4.0 SOHC is another story. The install is very straight forward. Pull the bolts out, pull the old pulley off and put the new one on.

Yeah the pullies are great and easy to install. I picked up a few miles per gallon and the truck idles smoother when sitting still. Ive got a set of Morana roller rockers on back order as we speak ordered them before school started here cant wait to get them in. I havent heard anything about having to readjust them... there are a few guys that run the rockers and havent heard any complaints about them. The rockers will help the top end a lot... but this is all from what ive heard... When I get mine in and do a few runs down the track Ill post up results and what not

have the coil pack and plug wires. can't say I noticed a big difference though.

As far as the rockers go, I heard about the adjusting as well but that was with the ones Wayne USED TO sell. You can't get rockers from him anymore because I heard that Crane went out of business. You can however, get rockers from Tom Morana, and they just came out with their 1.8:1 rockers that should yeild 18-19HP according to them.

What exactly is the benefit of using a coil pack that allows the spark plug gap to be increased?

 

Crane didn't go out of business. I just bought a set of Crane gold roller rockers. They may have stopped making the ones for the 3.0, but they ain't out of business.

 

Hotter spark, and the voltage doesn't taper off at higher RPM's.

 

The Morana Roller rockers are bolt down style.Meaning there is no adjusting needed.
I run them on my daily driver and have had no problems at all.They will help your 3.0 breath a little better up top.


These were a nice addition also.

 

how hard is it to install rockers?

 

There's a big difference between Crane being out of business and guys like summit/jegs/etc still having inventory on hand.
