I want to lift it?

I'll start by saying I wasn't totally sure where to post this, but...

I think I'm going to lift my truck. But I'm just starting out, so I don't totally know a whole lot about it.

I just want a little extra clearance. I drive a 1999 XLT 4x4, pretty much totally stock. I also want to put a set of offroad tires on it...

suggestions? advice? thanks!

Thread is "2001+", but you have the same suspension as a '01.

a body lift is a quick easy lift to get you started..

you could do the Superlift but then you have the t-bars hangin way down and they tend to drag.. EVERYWHERE if you do anything but mud.. You could also do the SL with the conversion kit for coilovers which is what i would recommend if you have the money.

It seem's like everyone is a big BL fan, I personaly dont like the look of a gap between the frame and body. A freind of mine had a 92 with the BL and I thought it just looked weird. Im running into the same problem with my 87, so i decided just to get a leveling kit wich brings the front end up 2" to meet the rear, looks lifted and give more space for larger tires up front, plus the parts are only about $50. As far as tires go, Id recomend Goodrich ATR's, Cooper Discover ATR's or Yokohama Geolander's. Those are good all around tires if you use it as a daily driver as well as fun in the forest. If you want more agressive, there are a lot of choices, Im a cooper fan personally.

I agree, I don't like the look of BL. I'm in the same situation, I'll probably go with a suspension, I believe you get more clearance. I'm a fan of the BFG's, I've had outstanding grip in snow and ice, as well as mild mud.

But dont forget a lift is pointless if you dont go with taller tires as well. You can have 3 feet of clearance at the chasis, but if the axel's are at stock clearance, whats the point? And nothing looks dumber than a lifted truck with 235's lol

You know if you are short on cash you could always crank your t-bars and get a shackle lift or some Explorer leafs from the JY.

Burn. Yeah, unfortunately it's WAY down on the list behind new windows for the house, heated seats for my wife's merc, etc. Someday, though, and I will take advantage everyone's services.

Thanks! I've already got your place plugged into the GPS

Seriously though, as these guys said, BL is the cheaper way to go for quick lift. I also like the t-bar crank. Just did mine a couple of days ago to level it out, and love it! Makes a huge difference, and it's really easy to do.
