Well, I had my oil changed at jiffy Lube for the first time. i usually do it myself, but felt lazy today...

Anyway, they said that Ford recommends changing the fuel filter ever 15,000 miles. I thought that sounded a littlt too frequent, so i declined.

My question is, when does the fuel filter need to be replaced? How often do you guys do this? My old car (a Subaru) required the fuel filter to be replaced at 60,000 miles... so 15,000 sounds a little excessive to me.

 

For most vehicles its 50,000 miles. Or you can look in your owners manual

 

I believe it actually is 15K I just changed mine a couple weeks ago.. it not too hard. just make sure you use the line tool so you dont break the line lock.. The filter is not that expensive in itself.. It is located in the frame rail on the left side if the truck about where the bed meets the cab.

 

yeah, thats what i thoght... i lost the owners manual :(

anyway, screw jiffy lube for trying to rip me off! lol

Every 15,000 miles Replace fuel filter (not required on Fusion, Milan or

As required Inspect and lubricate U-joints
As required Inspect and lubricate steering linkage ball joints with
zerk fittings
Use of E85 50% of the time or greater (flex fuel vehicles only)
Every 3,000 miles or 3 months Change engine oil and replace oil filter

Jiffy Lube always tends to use the earliest recommended mileage or date for service. I have to take my assigned work vehicle to Jiffy Lube and they always recommend changing out a list of things a mile long. All you have to do is say no, but they will try anything to make a buck. By the way, I have all of the Ford service manuals, including the wiring diagrams, so just PM me if you need any information.
