we use internationals...

it's not all hot meals and recliners, there is a lot of bs inbetween.

Here we just don't let probies sit on the recliners, everyone off probation can sit on them. As long as you get your station duties done and you are caught up on reports and training, you can do whatever you want. Wash your truck, clean your bunk, cook, eat, etc...it's a firehouse, not jail. Our departments are way more lax here though...we do have strict ones but most are chill...fireman by nature are pretty relaxed people.

LOL obviously you have never been in a firehouse and you watch too many movies. Its not like Ladder 49 where you get to sit around, play ping pong and pool. I've never had a day where I can sit around and eat.
Just busting your chops man calm down!

Yes I have been in a firehouse I went through the EMT program and my third rides consisted off:

Going to the grocery store in the rig.
Watching the baseball game on tv.
Eating tortilla chips and salsa.
Siting in the recliner while one guy slept on the couch, another played solitaire, and the other was washing the Chiefs SUV.

24 hour shifts and probably had one or two runs after I left.

Im going to be a cop so I have to mess with you lol ....I should switch to the darkside though NAW

Guess it depends on where you go..... I know here a lot of cities pay you 70-80k. Probably more with time.

heh looks like the private ambulances around here. our station has a 450 which i think it s joke ha, the rest are international i think but theyre over 10 years old.

in my experience with medics and such it all depends on the day. you could have days where you dont turn a wheel, but just the other day both my dad any my brother were both busy non stop for a good 10 hours. my dads department actually had to mutual aid my brothers department because some guy went knife crazy in upscale brecksville ha.

and no they dont just sit around all day. they do after 4-5 pm but then again so does 98% of the country at 5pm so why shouldnt they...

My 2 favorite things about this rig is the brake lights boy are they flippin bright! it also has 3 LED strips at the bottom you can barely see them in the pic but when they are lit up it really adds a sweet looking touch

ya we dont really need a lot of lights i live in a town of 15,000 and it takes 6 min to get from one side to the other

Hey not to bust your chops, but what you see is not always what yo get. Those were probably guys with 5-20 years + on the job that worked their way up to being able to do things at the station.

We ahve a few stations in my city that you can't even sit down because you are so busy. It goes call, then you write a report, then you wash the truck, then you help restock, then you cook, then you clean and do station duties, then you get a call, then you shower, then you try to fall asleep, then you get a fire alarm...

It's BUSY in my neck of the woods.

I just don't want you to think the job is all watching tv and eating..it's not at all. don't get me wrong, we have our fair share of stations that do that, but coming from a fire/rescue household...and being a FF/Medic myself...I know first hand it can get really crazy, but then there are days where you are bored off your gord and washing your own truck doing mods in the parking lot, etc.
