2 Years of dreaming, finally lifted !

Finally, I am lifted. I threw the rag in, and ordered my stuff.

First off, this is my 03 XLT 2wd. I never did like how low it sat, so I did something about it.

Lift is a 3" doetsch spindle up front, and some procomp short AAL in back with some shackles from a member on here.

Got my spindles fromsuspensionmaxx. I tried canuckmotorsports.com, they were cheaper, but after taking them 10 days to respond to my email asking for the phone number so I can give them my money, I gave up and ordered it from suspensionmaxx.

I installed some KYB gas-a-just's (monotube baby!) on all 4 corners. The front are stock length, the rears are sized for a 4x4 F150 (4" longer than my stock). Let me say, these things are the shizzle. My truck rides just like my Old Man's 2009 Taco, it floats over bumps. Along with the AAL's, my truck rides great, not too stiff. I LOVE IT!

In the end, the front went up 3" obviously, and I got 3" out of the AAL and shackles. I will put some 1" or 2" blocks in soon, as the rear sits 1/2" lower than the front, and I like a little rake.

An unexpected result, was my front tires are pushed out about 1.5" more than stock due to the new spindles.

Last 2 pics are my carnage, my "latex glove" broken ABS sensor mod. They just wouldn't come out without the sledge playing part. So, yeah, I need some new ones. Second, is on my test drive, I lost my factory ford chrome wheel skin! Damn! $100 mistake.

I also includeed some pics of my OHC install and my explorer lighted visors. BEST MOD EVER (OK, besides the lift)

Only hard part was the passenger side leaf spring to shackle bolt. It was siezed. I gave up and brought it in to a heavy truck garage. $100 later, with the use of their air hammer, its out.

The only thing I needed to grind was a notch in the LCA to accommodate a larger turn radius, other than that, my lip of my LCS is untouched. So its true, coil sprung rangers don't need to grind much at all!

While I was in there, I also installed some new MOOG tre's. Yippe, more nipples!

Enjoy!

Truck is looking real good man. You have any plans for wheels/tires or running this setup for a while?

Truck looks real good, but when you go for new wheels, don't go with the same ole bland MT Classics.

Thanks guys.

I will wear these shoes until they wear out. Probably another 2-3 years. Can't justify spending more $ on rubber when mine is fine.

When the time comes, BL, and new rubber. What size do you think I can run now, and later with a 3" BL?

a few cheap improvements, paint the wheels black or silver, black would look beter IMO, clean the tires and truck lol, and paint up the spindles, otherwise truck looks really good, i like it alot!

As nice as new rubber would be, I just can't justify the expense, since my current 30's are practically brand new.

And I agree, truck is getting washed & waxed tomorrow. Its one nasty beast right now, grease everywhere.

Crunchy, thanks for the link, help, pics, and for having an awesome truck. It looks great! sorry you lost that wheel skin...that sucks. maybe I can find you one on CL. haha

So Crunchy has been helping me out with my lift specs and things I'll need (I should give you feedback - 100% 5* help!! thanks!). I just ordered front and rear shocks, shackles, and the AAL shorty which is only about 275.00 USD shipped. I haven't bought spindles yet, the checking around I've done with sites, the best deals are right at 400 give or take shipped for Doetsch. For fabtechs it's 500-800+. Springtech has some for like 386 shipped on suspensionmax.com and ebay springtechs are the same IIRC. But the ebay deals are probably where they bought 7-10+ of them and they're only making 10-20 bucks a set. haha.

I think the best advice I could give is, one, order your spindles FIRST and two, subscribe to a bunch of websites and wait for 10-20% off (or more?) and then order everything. I used the same site as Crunchy (summitracing.com) and they don't currently have any online discounts, etc. But I'm guessing it will be shipped tomorrow. They are backordered on the front shocks but not worried. and they're shipping was only 12 bucks which is great.

hope that helps anyone looking at lifts, and if anyone sees any better deals than that online I'd sure be thankful for a PM with info.

I actually found the wheel skin a couple weeks later in front of a church hanging from a tree. I was very lucky, seems someone found it. Maybe it was God, cause, after all, it was a church.
