that blows... up here, you legally have to report any damage over 1000 to the police, they give you a vehicle damage sticker, which you place on your windsheild to prove the damage has been verified with the police, if you get pulled over with damage, and don't have a sticker, they run your vehicle through the hit and run database, and match paint transfer damage location and type to solve open hit and run cases
body shops are also not allowed to repair any vehicle with more than 1000 damage, without the sticker (which has your vin, year, make, model, colour, and spesifics about your damage, written on it, and signed by a p.o.)
those all have to be given back to the police, along with the repair reports, to make sure they aren't repairing any vehicles without the police knowing about it

sometiems it's better... if this guy ends up being found in a ditch... it could be bad for our friend here...
#35
if that happened to me, i'd be doing my best to make sure that i caught the guy. that's not just a love tap, that would be felt. the hitter had to have known he hit the OP's truck.

what? how? hit and run. make his life a ***** since he didnt have the guts to come forward. that tool that hit him was dumb enough to not pick up his broken taillight. he's asking for it. it shouldn't be super hard to find out who hit him. paint transfer, broken taillght. depending on where he works, if it's a mall it might be harder. if its an exclusive parking lot and both vehicles park there daily, keep an eye for him.

it's a little more difficult if the OP hadn't filed a police report...
of course with what i do for a living, i AM NOT in any way shape or form telling, or suggesting that any person take the law into their own hands

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn!! That fuking sucks!!! Where is it that you work? Industrial area? Some place in-town with who knows that come in and out every day? I'm just looking at the damage and I keep thinking truck with a cube box....wether it be just a half ton or even bigger. I drove those for a year at a job and a couple of our guys did the same thing that happened to you.
Man that really sucks. Hope it all gets fixed for ya. And make sure you push HELLA hard for OEM Fx4 decals from the Ford dealer for that bedside. They'll likely replace the bedside and front bed panel instead of swap on a new bed.

weez, you''re post was vauge. i read it and i'm guessing that others might have seen it this way too, that if the Op files, the Hitter is found and retaliates on the OP.
as much as the OP says things like "i hope i never find out who did it", i'm sure he's a level headed person who would handle things alot more civilized and rational then you are giving him credit for.

Damn that sucks man. Good luck finding whoever did this. and if you do find them kick them in the ***** for me and tell them they are a really big asshat and that they are adopted and that their real parents dont love them very much. Then proceed to beating them like a readheaded stepchild.
but it is a good thing you have 4drs which will make it a little easier on ya to fix... and that your deductible is only 250

everyone i did file a police report....all they did was come look at the truck, get the details and said that sucks lol....as for the tail light that was left its just the lense, someone night shaded them thats for sure...looks to be a newer chevy or older ranger or explorer tail. and i work at Michel Tire Plus, which happens to be in a shopping plaza with no cameras what so ever. Thats just my luck.

so chances are it was some customer who whit you then eh?
post pics of the tail up here, someone will be able to identify it for sure... also, if you have any of the numbers on the bottom edge of the tail, that would help
even if you don't see the truck that hit you, at work, we can probably narrow it down to a small number of possible vehicles, and if you happen to see a vehicle with half of a night shaded tail light, who has damage on the rear of the vehicle, chances are that's him...
street justice? i'll take a look at those pics again, to see if i can see anything thaty will help you, can you post some more pictures of the damage? i would like to see one from straight on, 90'* angle from the truck, also if possible, one looking downward from you standing in that corner of the box
i'm going to say you were backed into the stall you were parked in? it appears to be the rear left corner of the vehicle that hit you, and they were backing into the stall also, but it is hard to say without the other 2 pics i talked about above
