F250 & 2500HD Pics (Super Duty Video too)
This weekend South Texas finally got a little rain, and I decided to try out the 4wd in my new truck. No, it wasn't anything extreme. But it was a good time getting off the pavement for a while, locking in the hubs, and selecting 4wd for a couple of hours.
My dad and I went down to a low spot out on our property and just had a good time. At the bottom of this post, I'll post up a few pics of his rig, the '09 2500. He's a Chevy guy for life, no doubt, but everytime he drives the 'Duty he can't help but comment on how it's "different" than his Chevy... or how it's "more solid under that front end."
Anyway, thought I'd share a few pics.
Here's both our trucks, completely stock.
Here's the front end of the 2500HD. The half shafts and CVs look pretty beefy for IFS parts. It's just those tie rods that look weak for 3/4 ton status.
And for comparison, here's the front axle on the F250. You know, it's not the IFS vs solid axle thing that's so stiking. It's the tie rod/drag link assembly that looks like its not even in the same league as the GM counterpart.
And finally, I made this video of my dad making a couple of passes through my mud hole at the back of property. It was a blast! Luckily, the rain didn't have too much chance to sit and soak, so it wasn't too boggy. Otherwise, there'd be 7000lbs of 'Duty still sitting out there! Hope you like it.

cool trucks
my dad has an 08 gmc 2500 HD lifted 6". i love the GM trucks, but the steering is terrible, and i guess when wheeled hard **** breaks if you're on bigger tires.
my biggest complaint about the GM trucks is how far the frame sticks down below the body. they show more frame then my body lifted ranger.
and then not to mention they have a torsion bar front end.

Noth are nice trucks but I like the looks of the Chevy more.
If you dad is worried about the tie rods check out Rare Parts. They sell a set of beefier tie rods for Chevys.
