New Bugshield

A local speed shop is closing down so I went to see if they had any deals. Well I picked up a new bugshield for next to nothing. Its for a 98-01 ranger but I made it fit on the power dome hood with no problem I made 2 brackets to extend the center tabs and flex the center portion of the shield. I plan on keeping it for the summer at least to try and save some stone chips on the hood. Let me know what you think of it. It is growing on me, I think it gives the truck a good look.

What do those actually do? Keep the bugs of the hood or the windshield. People dont really run those over on the west coast so I am alittle curious

thnx

they keep bug guts and stone chips off of the front lip of the hood by blocking it... its alot easier to remove bugs from plastic then from baked on paint... i still dont like them

yea, and its supposed to change the air flow to make it slope up higher so bugs fly over your car/truck instead of hittin ur windshield. i dont think theyre worth the cash. ive had em on 2 trucks and my friends have had em. they break/crack easy if your not careful when puttin the hood up and they rub paint off the hood over time. they dont work that well either...

yep that about covers it. Since I got it so cheap I m gonna try it and see how it does. So far I've noticed some changein the aerodymancs in regard to better wiper contact at speed

Think they look hideous and I have never seen them make a difference, I had one on my 01 ranger only because I got a big hunk taken out of the fiberglass by a rogue truck throwing rocks at me. It was until I could spend the $250 to get the hood fixed.

Personally, it really depends on the truck. Like a black shield on a black truck, eh, dont really notice it. I bought mine purely for aesthetic reasons, Personally, I think it gives my truck 'attitude'
