the big question: off or on

the tailgate i mean

off

on

keep in mind regardless of what i do im trying to get some sort of tube tailgate..

the one thing that makes me wanna keep the gate on is because the added weight with the tire, rack, and tailgate make the rear ride nicely. when you take one of those from the equation, whether it be the gate, rack, or tire it rides like crap again. so without the tailgate it rides a bit rougher and has the slight rake again. but with it on it sits level and rides smoother..

a tube tailgate will eliminate this problem completely, but for now idk which i should do..

If you're getting a tube tailgate why don't you just mount the spare to it? Then you'll have full bedroom and a fullsize spare too.

Make a tiregate that swings out like a jeep.

If I recall those are extremely overpriced. I think I'll live without one of those

And like I've said in other posts. Idc about bed space. I have 2 trailers I can use at anytime. Why potentially scratch up my truck etc when I could just use a trailer instead

I think it would look alot better with the tire gate as well. If you're not looking to go that route, I say keep the tailgate on - it looks fine with it on and the ride is better.

because when i got the truck i didnt have 2 trailers?

also after i lifted it i realized its a lot easier to load things into a trailer thats maybe a foot and a half off the ground then it is to load stuff into a truck bed thats 3 and a half feet off the ground.

this recent situation comes to mind

When you get your tube tailgate made you could have the guy make a similar one probably. And I thought you said you liked your spare tire mount best in the middle of the bed but it killed too much space so you put it in the back even though you didn't like how it looked as much.

im most likely buying beards. he's just getting back to me with shipping cost.

and i liked it in the middle if the tailgate was on, but in the back if the tailgate was off. if that makes sense. lol

id leave it off. from the back with the gate on it ruins the look of having the tire mounted like that. I will look really good with a tube bumper.

i actually like it off on your truck, so thats my vote, as for tiregates, they are nice, but are overpriced (especially here in canada, $1,200. hells naw) and im not sure how sturdy they are.

If it rides better with it on, leave it on until you get the tube gate or whatever.
