Fiberglass Center Console
6 Attachment(s)
I just finished my center console I've been working on for the past couple of weeks. I've never worked with fiberglass ever before so everything was all new except the painting part. I think it turned out good. It all started because the cup holders that were connected to the seat sucked and couldn't hold a drink for the life of them. I didn't want to make my seats buckets and do a full console. There is still room to move the seat forward and back. I took some progress pictures, so I will go in order.
It started with a piece of cardboard. Attachment 192005 I then mocked the structure out of mdf and made sure it fit. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/Farwar/2-5.jpg Here is how I mounted it. It's pretty crude but no one sees it. To unscrew it, take out the two cup holders and the screw is easy to get at. Attachment 192006 Now it is finished. I'm happy with it considering its my first time with fiberglass and making something with it. Attachment 192007 Attachment 192008 Attachment 192009 Attachment 192010 Now the fire on the outside is carried into the inside. The bezel is going to get repainted black with a fire lick off the cigarette lighter. Let me know what you think. |
Nice work. Looks really good.

I think it looks pretty good. I like the paint scheme too. Have you though about painting your interior black, I think that would look ral good with your exterior and interior paint.

Looks good man. Good job on it being your first one.
That looks really good. I would love to do a full length one like that. What did it cost ya in materials?
Material wise (rough estimates, also in Canadian Dollars:biggrin:)
MDF- $7 Fiberglass kit + extra resin - $41 ( keep in mind, I probably wasted quite a bit since I had no clue what I was doing lol) Fleece- Found some lying around but its cheap anyway Bondo - $10 Paint - It was leftover from my hood and tailgate so probably $15 worth. Cupholders - $15 for all three Total- around $70-$85 Fun project though. I learned a lot and I've always wanted to try working with fiberglass and bondo. |
That looks excellent, great work!
I like it. Although I dont like how thats black and your other thing is blue.
very good work! I wish I had the motivation to try something like that, probably took a lot of time and patience, which I have neither of right now. :headache:

I really like it. Now I am debating if I wanna do something like that or a standard expo console. That looks really nice.
