I was looking at Tundras, the older ones. My dad has an 04.

I love the truck so far, except the first fill up...... $60 sooo no more random trips across Texas lol

Nice. I never like the 03-07 (classic) nose, but they are good trucks. I know it costs 60 bucks to fill up, but it should get better mileage than a ranger, so your good there. My buddy Sean averages 19 with his. I was looking for an 03-06 GMC when I ended up with my dodge.

Only $60 to fill up?
LoL

My brother in law had an '03 like yours, except his was 2wd. His truck was pretty quick. The 5.3L could get both rear street tires spinning into 3rd gear in the mud... couldn't hold 3rd but it did make the shift!

Good idea.
Let us know how well it tows. I think you'll probably need those air bags if you're going to load up the Ranger on a trailer. The rear suspension seems pretty soft.

Towed my ranger up to tellico with my 04, it pulled very well.... 60-70 the whole way! I would advise you to buy a BIG tranny cooler, the factory one doesn't keep the tranny cool enough even with DD'ing it... My temps were gettin 230+ on normal days... Now 180 is about max on the tranny!

yea, probably.. There's a park down by houston thats closing, and Texas A&M offroad is organizing a trip..

with or w/o them (since they like to cancel last minute) I'm gonna try and get the truck down there for one last run before it closes. so we'll see how it tows w/o the bags, it'll probably sag a bunch.. for the run to Katemcy with a heavy *** trailer and my truck, tools, food, beer, spare parts etc.. that 77 K20 squatted quite a bit.

I just gave up on finding a 3/4 ton in my price, age and mileage range.. And it was either get an 05 2wd or the 03 4x4 with 15k more miles.
