Pics from todays wheeling adventure

So today I ran T-33A Plane Crash, tried to run it last year when my truck was stock, but the trail was snowed in and quite frankly my truck just didn't have the clearance. So now that my 4x4 is working unlike a couple months ago (had to replace transfer case motor and permanently lock the hubs since they weren't locking on their own anymore) I can now take this truck on harder trails and not get stuck on big rocks.

I didn't take a whole lot of pics of the trails since well the vegetation is dry and dead and doesn't give much to look at, at the moment. So I took a bunch of poser shots and lots of pics of the crash site, I couldn't however find the engine, all the description I read about the trail says its there at the bottom of the hill, but I gave up after searching all the paths.

Link as always to trials full description with other peoples pics http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=174

Truck all dirty

This part here was way funner trying to get up hit, but I managed it just fine without airing down. But it made for great pictures going back down it. BTW the pictures do not do it justice at all.

Little creek at the end of the trail

Hit a trail across that street that was a way easy graded trail that they are probably getting ready to start building houses on. So I hit the trail just so I can say I did it before it was gone.

Then I decided to take the truck near the edge and play around with trying to get a photo from a good angle. Didn't really get any that I was overly impressed with. I think the first one is one of my favs. Let me know what you guys think of em. BTW the trucks front tires are only 4 inches away from a drop off of about 2000 feet. Either I'm ballsy or pure stupid lol.

And finally onto the million pics of the plane that exploded into a million pieces when it crash landed and yes 2 people died. And also these parts are spread all over the side of the mountain and not in one tiny spot and was a bit of a hike down a steep hill to get pics of all the parts and I'm still pissed I didn't see the engine.

nice pics, that trail looks pretty fun. Awesome flex btw, those 33's are stuffed! I'm glad your truck didn't go careening down the mountain. Emergency Brake FTW!

Probably wouldn't have as it happened way back in 65 lol.

Quote from trail damage

Two people were killed in the crash that happened on Jule 27th, 1965. It was a T-33A jet trainer, and the pilot was a very experienced Air Force Major named Jay Currie. First Lieutenant Donald Darby was riding along as a technical observer. They were flying from Buckley Field to California, and Major Currie was viewing some property he owned in Colorado, flying at 13,000 feet.

The reasons for the crash are not known. He was told to go to 17,000 feet by Air Traffic Control, but then contact was lost. It is known that he was flying slowly, there were no technical issues with the plane, and neither of the pilots attempted to eject from the plane. There were thunderstorms reported in the area, which may have contributed to the crash.

As with all historical plane crash sites, you must leave everything as you found it. Do not move or remove anything. Be respectful -- people died here.

Thanks, yeah it's a very fun trail. The pic where my trucks up on 3 tires, that's one of the toughest spots on the trail, due to the terrain being so unlevel and the fact that the rocks were kinda tall and loved to catch the damn a arms going up and dragged the hitch going down. Be careful if you do go though take Bunce School Road (trail head 105) until you come across trailhead 203. I forgot the trail head I needed and ended up spending 3 hours hitting all the illegal trails that idiots made until I found the right one. Also be careful climbing some of the rocks in the trail, there were quite a few spots where it looked like someone caught their oil/ tranny pan on some of them.

Thanks. Seems I've been getting lots of compliments on the truck now it's lifted, even here just getting into/out of my truck in parking lots. Never use to get any when it was at stock height.

That's what I was thinking. I'm surprised no one has tried to haul them for scrap.

After I got on the right trail it was maybe an hour up to the top. About another 45 minutes walking around the crash site and about 45 mins back down the mountain.

Thanks, yeah the mazda clip does look better than the rangers clip on this gen. I want to hopefully replace it though for a 04+ Ranger clip with probably a stx grill soon.

I think it's mostly because they'd never get all the pieces picked up. I only really took pics of the bigger stuff. Where the plane actually hit the mountain there's probably around 3 million little tiny 1"x1" pieces of the plane covering the mountain. So they just turned it into a memorial to those who died there.
