Got me some HIDs.
Yep... I've just become "one of those people." I couldn't help it, they were a good deal ($55 shipped) and I had a blown headlight.
I bought the hi/lo kit so that I could still flash people to turn out ahead of me on the occasional nice moment. The high beams look like very yellow, like old halogen lights, but still work well for lighting up the sides of the road.
We got our first snowfall today after I went out to take the finished photos, so they're not great quality.
Got some DRL questions if anyone can answer: https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...ad.php?t=76056
Here are my first photos with the lights on, enjoy.
HID vs halogen
The snow and the bad exposure make these look worse than they actually are. There isn't much more glare than the stock lights.

Thats a good deal! I might pick them up for my mom and girlfriends car. What looks white again? I know I have 6000k (i want another set for my fogs...next mod), but 4300 is white? I just don't want theirs to look weird or anything...both are relatively stock

I looked for that emblem sometime last year. They don't make it anymore, it's now a collectible!
As for the HID's, you'll love them. I used to run 4,300k's in my headlights and 3,000k's in my fogs and I loved the areas I could light up. Surprised at the few people that flashed me too. Just for fun, I recently converted over to 6,000k headlights and 30,000k fog lights (pink) just for ***** and giggles. I can honestly say I noticed a vision loss from 6,000k's in it now over the 4,300k's I had in it before.

I don't care that the high beams are hallogens, and are awful compared to stock. I use them to flash people through intersections and such when being kind. If it's nothing more than the reason that they're not a real HID high beam, I'm ok with that.

Sorry, no closeups. It is what Jaremy is talking about in the quote below.
Why should you stay away from these kits? Do they take away from the power of the HID because they are smaller bulbs?
