wheres the rest of the estimate? you dont have the first sheet on there.

DSG isnt that big of a deal. its a pain to paint because there are so many varients of it, but a competant shop shouldnt have a big problem painting it.

Ok, i dont see the first lines though. 1-15 are missing. I know your address and stuff are on there, but black em out need be. I dont see what they are doing for your lights and fenders.

Not that big a deal though. everything else looks legit. They are gonna repair one bedside, replace the other. Repair the doors and repair the cab and replace the roof. All parts are oem Fomoco pieces on the sheet from the looks of it. They are also gonna replace your stripes, and reuse your old emblems. Most shops just buy new emblems if they take one off. If they wind up doing that, tell them to keep the old ones. Im sure you can hock the 06+ ones here for a couple bucks. Theyll probably just need new double sided tape.

if you dont plan on keeping it, just get the work done and sell it, then youll have nothing to ***** about.

sure hope you have rentals insurance if your planning on going with the second estimate.

I have been though this 4 times with my 04, two of the times I had to take it back and get it redone because I was not happy with it at first, but they made good on it. My damage was from other crap though, rearended and hit by a rolling vehicle in a parking lot. It sucks to have something new, and already have it painted on. I however, got rid of it recently, I just havent made a post yet telling everyone what I did. I will say this though, it IS another ranger, and it IS newer than my 04.

You could sell it, find a 2002 FX4 with the fiberglass bed and hood! Add fiberglass fenders and a roof rack, no doors, no problems! lol

0.2 hours is 10-15 minutes...When you go to the doctors for 15 minutes for a check up, they dont just waive your copay and not bill the insurance do they? Why should a body shop cut corners to save the insurance company money. This guy pays probably out his a** every year for insurance, and im sure theyll walk it right to him on his yearly premium after this claim for something Mother Nature did. 15 minutes is 15 minutes, weather hes paying his employees to do it or hes doing it himself, its costing someone money to remove & replace it. Nobody works for free, he shouldnt, you shouldnt and insurance companies make enough off you and I and hundreds of thousands of people who pay year after year without making claims, time for them to fork the green over to the little guy for a change.

sorry to see that man, that sucks. i've had my cuda outside in hail. not that big. but i grabbed about 3 thick comforters, ran out and covered it. No damage (also a lot thicker steel than a ranger).

Might be better. Ford paintjobs suck from the factory.

The only OEM paintjobs ive seen that were excellent from the factory were from Aston Martin. Then again, those are hand painted and colorsanded and buffed at the factory.

I wouldnt worry so much. If its a good shop, theyll take care of it. Just keep the car. They are gonna pull the front, rear and side glass. The bed is getting set back, and they are replacing more than i thought they were gonna do. Whats the problem? They are gonna be doing a complete paintjob too, so whats not gonna match? As long as they spray it right and get the metallic even, there shouldnt be a problem. These guys are professionals after all. Have some faith.

x3 on that. Well said. Ive found, as well as my parents this also is the case. Mother had her exploder 6 months the paint started getting all sorts of cracks in it. Ford paid for them to bring it to a local guy, he redid the whole thing, door jams, everything, 5 years ago now, looks better then an 09 Exploder.

One other thing, once the trucks there, the body guy knows your expectations, dont be like some customers and stop in 3....4.....1100 times a week to check on it, because he will get wound tight and itll get done half a**ed because hell want you out of his hair.

BTW, before people think im talking out of my ***, I work for DuPont, Ive worked for a body shop in the past, I have written insurance estimates, I have worked for a paint store as well. I also can paint, and at this moment i am sitting in a hotel room in northern California getting ready to spend the rest of the week training painters with an installation of our Spies Hecker paint line with our team of techicians. So in a nutshell, yes, i have experience from many many sides of the auto body industry. Just because your car has been painted does not mean its a POS now. If it bothers you that much, its an excuse to start to play with custom paint if you so wish.

What line of paint does the shop you are using use? I have opinions of all of the paint lines out there and im just curious.
