New Truck Pics...

Well I used to own a 96' Subaru Impreza that was my DD and my weekend rallycross racer. It was a great car but I wanted something tougher that I could load up and take camping. So I decided on the Ranger. I wanted it to stay fairly low but strong and be able to race at the rallycrosses. I never thought I would find one like this though!

It is a 2004 Ranger XL with full fiberglass, custom bumpers front and rear, 15" American Racing Outlaw II wheels and 31x10.50 A/T's. The suspension is probably worse than stock right now even though it has an aggressive stance. The previous owner took out all but the 2 longest leafs in the rear so its super soft and sags like all hell. When its sitting there it has like 1-1.5" between the bumpstop and the axle. So I'm gonna look for some OEM 2wd ranger springs to get back in there this weekend at the local junkyard. The front has like 3 of those pepboys spring stiffeners in them so it is super stiff. I'm going to pull those out and get the 1" Aluminum Ebay spring spacers. It also needs new shocks all around.

Future plans are for the camburg 5.5 kit so the above suspension is only temporary. It currently has 157k miles and the 2.3L Duratec with Auto trans. Not the peppiest but I plan on axle swapping to the 8.8 and gearing down slightly to compensate for the tires.

Anyway, on to the pics! Let me know what you think!

Anyone ever used the Ebay spring spacers before? Thoughts? Thanks.

Welcome to RF. Nice truck and plans.

I'd just save for the Camburg.

Thanks all! Ya its a good starting point. And I would just go straight for the camburg but the truck right now is super bouncy and unbalanced that it is almost uncomfortable to drive.

I like the way it looks. Performance is what really matters though. Nice truck though.

ya, if i were you...id just put it back to stock first so you can stand the ride and save for the camburg.

no use in wasting money on the "cheap stuff" when your only going to get rid of it anyways.

oh, and that exhaust exit looks pretty cool

Ya the taillights aren't my favorite. They are actually smoked darker than they appear in the pics so there not too bad. I am definitely going to swap them eventually for some stock tails.

The side exit exhaust is a pretty cool custom touch. But it is a straight pipe right out of the cat so it is way loud. And the little 2.3 doesn't help it's tone any. The previous owner didn't mount any rubber hangers so it leaks at the flange by the cats. I am going to rebuild it with a little bigger piping (it looks like 2" now) I may go 2.5" with a bullet muffler to tone it down some.

All that thing needs is a camburg kit and it'll be one badass machine.

It's definitely fun to drive! I get looks all over the place. And I'll definitely keep you all posted on the mod progress. I'm going to flip the shackles and get some new rear shocks and tint the windows this weekend. I'll post some pics up when I'm done!

look at the door code for the springs (lower right) If the last character is K, then your spring pack probably just has 2 leaves plus overload. That's what I got and they suck. I'm looking to upgrade to a "C" or a "3" code pack.

that looks like a fun truck.
