Red_Ak_Ranger 01-02-2013 01:37 PM

Also, I wanted strongly to do the roof rack mod on my truck but being double lifted I believe I wouldn't be able to enter some parking garages. Sometimes I'm within 3 inches of hitting the beams in garages.

Yeah it sucks. I've lost all interest. Short of a suspension lift or SAS, which there's no point in me doing either one, I have nothing left to do. I drive it once every couple weeks. Usually have to jumpstart it. I drive my work truck everywhere else. Kinda sucks but I need a new project. THEN that puts me on the subject of whether it's worth buying a new truck and having a payment for something I could drive every weekend if I really wanted haha.

Why don't you get a car and make it fast. Or just buy a fast car to smash around on the weekends. Possibly restore a classic?

If it's paid off keep it as your wheeler. Find you something cheap and sporty to give you a second hobby that wont cost an arm and a leg.

I hadent aired down at all. after i did i was fine. Plus they have dura tracs and more weight

Also that video was suprisingly smooth. Is that a "powerline trail/road" that you guys were on?

Gas line, the hill is a rocky mess

is that camera mounted to the roof or a roofrack or something? that was pretty cool how well it shot that video!

I bet he's got a gopro and then maybe a suction cup mount to windshield or he attached a mount to the "air vents" part. Video quality was sweet

I don't need a wheeler haha. All I need is 4wd to get my to my shooting spot in the desert once or twice a month lol. And I need 4 doors because in the next few years we'll have a little monster on the way most likely.

Ranger's are great trucks mine was just not a good one. But many of the guys over on TTORA (taco forum) have had Rangers. Now this is my opinion only and ill contradict myself a little bit here. Once you drive a Tacoma you'll really realize how shitty a ranger actually is. Not that they are piles of shit you'll just notice how much better of a truck they are.

Build potential of a Tacoma and all the aftermarket support is UNREAL
Rangers dont have as much support, they are more of a work truck, the Tacoma is unreal off road, followed by Toyota's reliability.

Ive experienced the exact opposite.. there are just way more shitty beat rangers which gives that image. taco is far from better, i am not biased either. i enjoy any well built vehicle

I never said anything about how Tacomas aren't good trucks. I just said that personally I'd rather buy a fullsize F150 or Silverado for the kind of money you'll spend on a Tacoma. Even used Tacomas are WAY overpriced IMO.

But, thats not the point of this thread. Everyone's heard this debate before anyway. Just personal preference.

my lil brother wants a taco for his first truck, every one we look at around 7-8k has like 190+k miles on them.. way over priced. rangers are sexier ;)

You got that right... They hold their resale value really well. I paid 15k for mine in the end but with 50k miles. A Tacoma is eaier and cheaper to build than a ranger

Point and Case look closer at KLC's pic a nice Taco
