Icon6 OMGWTFBBQ 06+ power mirror install on 04

So today I decided to tackle the 06+ pwr mirror install. It went mostly smooth with minor set backs. Mostly thanks to ford and their lazy asses lol. On a scale of 1-10 i'd rate it at a 6, but that might only be for my case this time. I didn't go with factory mirrors I got aftermarket. So the factory might of been easier to wire up. Thanks to shane he had put together the wiring on a diagram. However in my case the passenger side was different(again because the aftermarket mirrors more then likely) Colors were off, but I got it figured out thanks to the diagram. Anyway on to the pics.

Weapon's of choice:(yes I used all of them lol)

This right here was my savior. Saw it at walmart when I was getting the connectors. It literally made this mod possible. Well worth the 14 bucks! Has 3 settings. Red led, white led, 2x bright white led.

So as I was told there should of been a plug for my mirrors right? NO ford didn't put any on my truck. It was all hard wire with no quick disconnect. Pissed me off to say the least. So be fair warned your truck might not have plus and if your not comfortable cutting and splicing. then dont do this mod without help from someone who is. So with that being that case I decided to add my own quick disconnects. Used some male/female connectors.

Also another warning. Ford didn't give much slack at all. So adding wire is highly suggested!

I didn't do that on the drivers side, but did on the pass side because I had even less slack.

Thanks ford for being lazy basturds:

So then I went a snipping and cut the SOB off lol and began splicing.

now with having to all the wiring I did. I had to do a fair bit of trimming to the guts of the mount part of the mirror. Dremel FTMFW! lol. I needed the extra space for the wiring in order to have a flush fit.

Now the pass side:

Decided to extend the wiring to make this much easier. Wish i would of done it on the other side, but its not and i'm not messing with it now LOL.

Now if you decide to buy ebay pwr mirrors here is the correct color match for the pass side.

purple-yellow
Blue-green
White-white

The drivers side was correct in color.

purple, green and white were in the truck

blue, yellow and white were in the mirror.

Anyway that is all. I'm glad its done and over with lol.

I had ebay one's on the 95 and they were fine. These came from a company in GA. Quality wise they seem fine.

I didn't realize the actual mirrors were different. I'll have to check out a newer Ranger to see
