It's only "too much" if you abuse it. I don't like going through stages with vehicles, so I went ahead and got the "bigger" bike to I can just learn this from now on.

While I agree that skipping certain stages is fine, this is alot of stages. Its like getting into racing and going from a go cart to nascar. Its a HUGE jump. Ive been riding for a couple years off and on, Ive riden an R1. Thats alot of bike to start on.

I will have to agree with ya on that. I use to have a 600RR, took my buddies R1 out one day and gave it back to him scared poopless. They are stupid fast and for a first bike way way way more bike than you will ever need.

Be careful on it. And good looking bike.

I agree I bought a 750 for my first bike but then its a cruiser to so nowhere near the power a 750cc sport bike would have.

But a r1 is also extremely powerful and with that amount of power and a new rider its extremely easy to do something you didnt mean to and hurt yourself because you did not know how to deal with the power due to experience.

I don't think its really power, the 600s can keep there own against the 1,000s pretty good.

Its what happends when you need to make emergency maneuver around a car or other obstacle.

From my small experience on a bike a 600 is so much easier to control and handle then a big ole 1,000.

Only reason I (becaue I kind of agree with the get a bigger bike and respect it) would buy a smaller/less expensive bike for a starter because its not if you lay it down, its when.

Leave the stickers off. Give me a call and we'll go ride sometime this summer.

Don't listen to everyone giving you **** for a liter bike. Just don't twist your wrist too far and you'll be fine.

If you respect the bike you'll do fine, but when you think you're in control of it and get too comfortable is when it can get away from you.
