Icon10 My Tacoma ARB Bumper On

Picked up my New ARB bumper(off a tacoma) last night from yfzman450. Wasn't planning on getting it on so soon, but things worked out. My friend Derek(same guy that built my rear bumper)did most of the work. He's the expert welder.
We had to cut apart the brackets that came with the bumper and fab up some stuff and cut a couple of holes in the frame. It's not completely done, but...
On with the pictures!

Brackets that came on the bumper:

Derek thinking

It look like it would interfere with the headlights, but it doesn't at all.

Top hole is the hole that was made with a torch cutter:

Crappy picture of the bracket in it's mock up state(only tack welded):

Brackets all welded up before paint.

What was left over from the brackets that came with the bumper:

Painted brackets all finished and mounted to the bumper:

DSC_0023-3.jpg?t=1225854060
DSC_0024-3.jpg?t=1225854080

The end was capped with a thick piece of gusset with two nuts welded to the underside of it for mounting:
DSC_0026-7.jpg?t=1225854094

The pictures you've all been waiting for, the bumper mounted:
DSC_0029-2.jpg?t=1225854240
DSC_0030-5.jpg?t=1225854251
DSC_0031-4.jpg?t=1225854297
DSC_0032-1.jpg?t=1225854313

Sorry that's all I've got for now. Took about 3.5 hrs. Over the next couple of weeks we will be mounting two more braces vertically to the bumper to keep it from moving. We will also be welding some metal under the headlights to hide the frame and close the gap. I also have plans to paint the frame and all that's exposed black.

Soon to come will be some type of fog lights(something else we have to make brackets for). Also hopefully a set of KC's and eventually down the road a winch.

Let me know what you think. I think it looks darn good for coming off of a Tacoma and going onto a Ranger.
Enjoy!

I don't like it. It looks too big and the gaps are all too big. Maybe if you painted under the grill shell black and put a fresh coat on the bumper too the gaps wouldn't stand out so much. But if you have it for function and actually use it I guess that's all that matters.

Looks good. Get some rubber or something to fill in the gap.

I like it other then that gap. I wonder if there is a way to take the bumper cap off the old bumper and some how get it to work with the bumper you got to cover that up. That, or even getting some straight metal that comes from the top of the bumper up welded on to cover that up.

I was actually looking at your other thread earlier because I was hoping to see progress pics.

I like it :)

That's the plan, but this was all we had time to do tonight.

Yup, just read it after I posted. LOL!

It looks awesome, dude.

ONLY other thing I gotta say is it sticks out a little too far for my liking. Other then that though, I got nothing else bad to say.

I think I might get one from an XJ and see what I can do with it for my truck. Gotta talk to the ARB dealer.

Why not just move the bumper up another few inches? I can see you got a bit of up room to play with.

I would trim the top of the bumper then redo the brackets to suck the bumper up higher.

I like the look, but you need to cut a section out of the top of the bumper so the bottom of the grill will be hidden and the outer top sides of the bumper will fit flush with the piece bellow the headlights. Here is some pics that may help you with ideas.

notch it for the grill and raise it up some...

so it sits flush/closer(Less gap) with the piece bellow the headlight...

can i suggest that you remove the bars that are over/covering the lights? but keep the middle bar. i agrees with others about lifting it an inch or so. looks like you got a good start.
