Interior Refresh Project Complete
Gentlemen,
I've always wanted to wire up some power leather/vinyl explorer seats in my ranger and I finally got the chance. I found a pretty deacent set of seats out of a 1997 Ford Explorer at the local junk yard. They let me have them for $100 so I figured that was a half decent deal
I figured that while I had the seats out it would be the optimal time to replace the factory carpet that had over 100,000 miles on it, and had been buried in mud several times. I ordered a new set of premolded carpet from www.stockinteriors.com for $120 shipped.
I had also been reading several threads about installing some sort of sound deading material in our trucks to stop the rattles, and tire noise, as well as helping the stereo sound a little better. I did a lot of research and just decided against putting $300 in dynamat inside my truck. I elected to go with gutter repair tape (peel & seal) from Lowes. I coated it with 6 rolls of the stuff. It made a HUGE difference.
I know everyone here talks a lot of **** about this gutter repair tape, but I'm here to tell you it's not that bad. I layed out a test strip for a week to see if it would "run" or melt off the side of the truck, or wreak of tar in the truck due to the heat (It's been in the 100's all week here). After that week I checked back and found that there were no issues at all with it and after riding around for another week with 6 rolls of the stuff I can tell you it doesn't smell or goo up the truck. I would highly recommend it.

Those look great. They look just like the ones I installed in my truck this last weekend. Now I just need to wire them up. I am going to do what you did and install sound deadener while I have the carpet out. Are those heated too? Mine are, it will be nice in the winter. Great install the carpet looks good too.

Sweet man I heard that those seats bolt right in seems crazy because I used to own a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer and the seats are like huge but the obviously fit and dude the carpet is awsome I am going to look into that because my 93 carpet is clean and what not, no stains but you can just tell it is worn out.
