My new 98 to replace my 99

It's a black 98 4x4 XLT with 114k miles. The tires are 31x10.50x15's. It cost me $3200. I had to add a picture of the tow rig too.

You can find them on eBay for cheap. I have some on my other ranger that i'm going to switch over because they are in better condition. This truck either has a blown head gasket or a cracked head. I'm not sure which one yet, but it's on the trailer headed for the shop in the AM.

Negative on the cellphone pictures. Those were taken by my camera...in the rain. The truck has been an NC truck it's whole life and it's nice and clean. I replace the shocks today and they came off in just under 15 minutes for all 4. I was amazed that none of the bolts/nuts were rusted on. I also found out it has a tow hook on the passenger side at the rear. I thought that was pretty cool.

I believe I am going to part it out. One of my instructors welded the cracks (I have yet to learn how to weld) and he said the frame was too thin to hold a good weld. I'll take some pictures of the welds tomorrow. I could throw the bed on it and sell it, but i'd feel like a complete ******* selling a truck to someone knowing the frame is rotted.

Lockers will be as soon as I get the money...and after replacing head gaskets and/or heads on my new truck. I don't think i'll go to 33's, I don't really want to do a body lift. The 4.56's are sitting on my bedroom floor though.

Nice... I think ya should go for the 33's... glass or cut fenders or something... It would look good and would be a lil extra capable

I'm not going to cut up my fenders and I don't like the fiberglass front fenders or whatever the hell they are. I think they're hidious. If anything i'll go with a body lift if I decide to get 33's.

I did a coolant system pressure test on the truck today. I pumped it up to 16 lbs (that's what it's rated at on the cap) and it didn't lose pressure the whole 11 minutes I left it alone. I then pumped it up to 20 lbs and it STILL didn't lose pressure. I have no idea how it didn't lose pressure because it's bubbling in the coolant reservior tank.

I also did a Combustion leak test and that finally signified a problem. The other thing I don't understand is how it doesn't overheat and it runs smooth...oh well, the tear down begins tomorrow!

Sooo. I got the engine torn down. You can see on the heads and head gaskets where it was leaking. I also have to do a valve job. The intake valve on #2 has a BAD leak. I flipped the heads upside down in the wash tank and covered the intake and exhaust valves on each side with varsol. #2 was the only one that leaked. Sorry about the crappy cell phone pictures.

Before anyone asks, the blue "things" are labels I put on each sensor and vacuum line. There's nothing more annoying than putting all that hard work wondering where **** goes. I also labeled all the pushrods and other bolts.

I examined the heads today to find a crack in one head in between the intake and exhaust valves. I'm getting two brand new heads for $410.

I'll have it back together faster than when you did your engine swap.
