Out with the old, in with the...
... new (to me) truck.
Traded in the Sport Trac yesterday...
It's a 2006 with 29k miles, standard FX4 stuff, 6 CD/MP3 Siruis, the rest pretty much speaks for itself. It sure rides nice, I can actually talk normally over the roadnoise/tires and whatnot too. The scangauge is already showing much better mileage than the sport trac and so much more comfortable on the freeway. The FX4 comes with 3.73's and a limited slip so it gets around okay, should handle a small tire upgade okay. The only things it's missing from what I wanted are leather seats and rear slider, but you can't be too picky buying used. As it is I've been looking over several states for over a month.
I think I'm going to try and keep it relatively stock for a while. Window tint for Christmas, a programmer to bring some more power and help the lazy shifts and awkward throttle response. Then probably a 2.5" leveling kit and some 305's mounted on the stock 18's. I don't want to overtax the engine/tranny with 35's and deal with tire rubbing. Hopefully I'll end up with some adjustable coilovers (camburg or king) and the camburg upper control arm with 1" uni-ball in a few months around tax time.
I know if I went with a 6" lift I'll want 35's, then I'll want to re-gear, then I'll want lockers, then I'll need a new front driveshaft, then rear lift springs, then... So I don't think I'm going to do any of that any time soon. I'm going to keep this around for a while, since I traded the sport trac after only about a year and a half, so I'll sit on this one and keep it nice
Once the freezing rain stops and I can get back up the driveway into the garage I'll have to pull the steps off and see how it looks. I don't like them (get in the way of my shins), but my shorty wife does. I think they'll look alright after the trucks sits a few inches higher.
Oh yeah, it was sure depressing to see the sport trac go away. The new owner will have no idea what they are in for when they engage 4x4 and it goes in a straight line, lol.

It's got the 5.4L.
Coming back from Ohio on the freeway I saw 18mph on the reader pretty frequently. I didn't reset the odo when I picked it up so I don't have any solid numbers yet. Need to go fill it up and reset it .
Yeah I like the painted bumpers too.
I went and looked at an 07 in Hamilton, OH yesterday, almost identical but had leather and rear slider, and the 20" wheels (would have tried to sell them to you, lol). They wouldn't budge on their price a penny though anyway. They were asking 600 over retail, and told me that my truck was worth nothing because they won't sell anything with any modifications. Idiots. Every small town dealer I've looked at F150's at didn't budge a penny. I told them to have good luck with the crashing economy, hope for the bailout and thanks for wasting my time.

I did pull the yakima basket off about a week ago but didn't note if that changed the mileage or not. Trying to decide if I should sell the basket or not. Could definitely use the money for something else.

Center console shift has been available since either 04 or 05. I didn't like it much when I first saw it, but it grew on me. I was actually looking for one because I wanted a full length center console.
The pictures really do make the front end look low too. I don't have a floor jack ever since I moved so I either need to buy a new one (really need to anyway) or pay someone else to install leveling kit (ugh). Trying to decide if I should level it now with stock tires or wait until I have money for tires to go along with it.
