Butt raped by a Ram
Well, this friday i was on the highway driving home, stop and go traffic, yay for 430 on a friday afternoon, I was at a dead stop, turned to my friend to say something then felt myself shoot back then fly forward. my first thought was 'WHAT THE **** JUST HAPPENED' then in that same instant, it registered as 'aw f, i just got hit, it better be totalled' haha. not much to say, i was at a dead stop, got smacked by a ram, pushed into the car infront of me, I had a good 5 or more feet between us too. the car infront got a dent on his bumper, the ram had a small dent on his bumper. then there was me.
the pictures make it look a lot better then it is, the rear bumper has the mounting brackets nearly poking through it, and the top of my license plate is a good 4 inches behind the bottom of my tailgate. the bed is a huge bend, the floor has a good curve to it too. it was pushed into my cab, dented my cab and scratched it in the shape of the bed all the way around, tailgate is mangled. theres damage to the front bumper too, but you cant tell in the pics i got. The valance cracked in both corners, fog lights broke, mounting brackets bent, and puncturing through the bumper.
The frame is bent in the rear drivers side corner pretty good, once again, hard to tell in the pic, but you can tell on the hole where it bent over, its out by a couple inches at the end, not sure about the rest of it, have to wait til tuesday to find out more...I'm personally hoping for a write off. I had it at a dealership earlier that day and they offered me $10,000 for it. and i owe $10,500 so i was going to take it, just they didnt have any cars i was interested in, and i needed it that day and all so yeah...and now. If it does get fixed im screwed for selling it cos thats goiig to cost a lot to fix and its going to show up in a VIN report that it was in a collision that cost $x,xxx amount to fix. but considering it needs everything in the rear replaced, and the front bumper, and repainted and the frame straightened, it'll be quite costly.
everyone was ok, my buddy and i got some whiplash, stiff back and sore neck, thats about it. He's a tall guy, so the top of the headrest was at his neck, so his head just folded over the seat and he hit his head on the back of it, or something internally, cos hes got a nice goose egg on the back of his head. oh yeah, you can also see a couple shelves in the back, i was helping him move some furniture to a storage unit, and 3 or the 4 main things he had in the bed, got damaged, so were hoping to get that replaced too ha

That sucks. I would push hard for them to total it once the adjuster looks at it. Our Jetta was right on the edge when we got rear ended and I pushed for them to total it.
If not, I (personally) would look into talking to someone about getting extra money for "diminished value" because you know resale is going to take a dump.
