I think I've got all of my lighting done. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics..

There's somewhere around 1,000W between everything. When I flip everything on in neutral, my RPMs drop by 300, time for a newer, stronger alternator?


Up front: 4-150W "KC's" (2 circuits, no relays!!!!), 2 stock fog lights put in after I bought it, and Silverstar head lamps on highbeam.


Out Back: Stock rev lights, and 2-55W Wal-mart Ricer fog lights (best $15 Ive spent in a long time, they even came with all the wiring)

 

Thats what I call a lotta lights. Nice setup!

 

I wish I had that many light up front, I wish I had a little more light when I was setting up decoys last weekend by myself. I had to move the ranger a few times before I got 5 dozen goose decoys out in the stubble and 6 dozen duck decoys in the water....

 

The best thing is one of the lights points up in the air. I call it my search and rescue light. If im ever lost in the woods the helicopters will be able to find me

 

um i had well over 1300watts on my silver truck... your point you have more to go...

How are you running no relays... I have those cheap back up lights as well, they rock! I got 4 sets at Harbor Freight for 9 bucks a pop tho.

 

thats prob the most stupid thing i have seen use relays or plan on burning up your wiring hoping you atleast used fuses...

12 gauge wire....?

Well I bought one set and it came with wiring and it didnt include a relay, so I never ran one then I got the second set and just never put a relay on that one either. Ive had them running for 2 hours straight once and there has never been a problem.

They came with 20A fuses but im running them on 15A fuses (well thats because I ran out of 20A after making some mistakes wiring my fogs).

 

Just because your running heavy gauge wire doesnt mean they shouldn't be on a relay

 

A relay is used instead of heavy gauge wire and heavier switches. The switches that I'm using are rated for the load.


Oh and if you think im crazy and im going to burn up realize that ive had 2 of the 150's on there for a year and the other 2 on there for about 6 months now. Ive had them running for 2 hours straight once and ussually they are on for an hour or so when I use them.

 

Whatever, I've just heard horror stories so I was passing it along.

 

I burned up my alt. running mine without relays. and I only had 4 KC 100W at the time.

I ran without a relay for awhile on my top four lights and you could feel the switch get hot after running the lights for awhile. I would consider running a relay if I were you.

 

Naw im trying to figure out how I can get another 300W on the front end of my truck. I would really like to make a light/"roll"/headache rack. But I dunno how well it would come out.

Actually I have 3 relays and relay sockets in the garage, but it would require a bunch of rewiring, that I really don't feel like doing. The circuits can handle it so theres really no reason to have relays....

oh and the truck is worth 12.5k according to my insurance company, and yes it does have full coverage.

 

i said "well over" i dont let all the secrets out of the bag on that truck dont you notice the pics how bright she is ...


also "your circuits can handle it" comment.. so your running a switch that can handle well over 35amps... love to see it... doubt that... remember everything is running threw that switch.. enjoy the melt down...



no offense but you just need to stop talking about your wiring your NOT impressing us.. only thing your doing is showing how little you understand wiring.. do it right or get off the pot.....

oh and the 12gauge comment on the wires i ran 10 easy for my set up.. just to let you know the difference..

 

That full coverage will mean nothing when its your own fault your trucks burnt up. Not saying it will happen, but it could. Thats the risk with any wiring mod tho

I dont know if you caught this but I did mention im running 15A fuses on all circuits, and the switches are rated to 25A. The wiring is 12 gauge all the way up to the last 4 inches before the lights. This leaves the weak spot at the lights, which by the way, were made with 14 gauge wire...

 

still 100% no way bro run a relay...
