I was told not to use gasket. I was told RTV would be best.

I found the hole. Im worried I may not get enough in there this cover is bigger

looks good!

through the front diff fill hole? that will work fine just keep dumping it in until its coming back out at ya.

i wouldnt use the gasket either. RTV works great.

I run 80w90 Lucas gear oil in mine, no need for additives and such then.

any full synthetic will not require the added L/S friction modifier...

RTV works fine also...

like Zach said, fill it till it pours back out at you....

You must continue to set the lube level by filling the diff through the original hole on the side of the diff housing. The small plug in the Ex cover is set up for the IRS diff which can get by with a lower fluid level.

If you set the Ranger fluid level using the Explorer rear cover fill hole, your axle lube will be low and may starve the outer axle bearings. An 8.8 Ranger diff should take about 2.5~2.75 quarts of lube filled to the bottom of the diff housing fill hole.

is there an "S" spring in the diff? if not then you don't have l/s, but if there is, then you do....

Looks pretty good to me, but I think I would have gone with silver with red trim.
