my 2010 ranger (bought in Jan. this year)

Totally stock, no mods (yet).

Pic is of my truck during the winter loaded for the dump run with garbage from an ongoing build.

You should do the prekey mod and shackles to lift it a bit. And I'm going to assume it's a 4x4 from the sticker on the bedside lol

Thanks guys. Yes it's a Sport 4x4 with the offroad shocks and skid plates all under. The flares are stock for the model, but I agree, they looks pretty sweet.

What exactly is a prekey mod? And what are shackles?

I'll do a search, but thanks for the input.

Shackles are a mod called the 'Chevy Drop Shackles' that replace the mounting between your Leaf Springs, and your frame - it bolts in between the mount and your leaf springs and gives you an adjustable lift between 1-3" depending on where you put the bolts.

The "PreKey" mod is a newer mod created to solve an issue Ford put in the design of there newer lineup of 4x4's, originally the Torsion Key on the IFS (Independant Front Suspension) truck sat at a specific angle that gave higher front clearance, Ford dropped the angle by a few degrees on the newer trucks and caused the 4x4 series to sit just a hair higher of clearance then the 2wd models. The PreKey mod replaces that key, with an older Torsion Key at the original degree of angle and gives you a quick leveling raise in the front end of the truck.. gives room for bigger tires, more front end clearance from the ground - and an all around better look for a 4x4 truck.\

Those two mods are currently the cheapest lift (~80 for the Beltech Shackles, ~50-60 for the older Torsion Bar Key) and a more aggressive look.. the next stage up would be a 3" bodylift, and then a 4" Superlift.. and it you can find one, an 5.5" RCD Suspension Lift

In 08 they lowered the sport/4x4 models an inch all the way around. Also a FYI the reg cab sports were coil sprung from 08+.

Nice looking truck!

Nice truck. Looks a lot like mine only the wheels are different. Are those 15 inch or 16? Mine has the 16 inch. I wasn't sure about the color at first but it's starting to grow on me.
I just took delivery of mine on Aug 24, so we are still "getting to know each other". Have a good day eh? Sorry I couldn't stop myself!

My tires are 16" as well, the rims are different though. I have the offroad package, so maybe thats it? Or the dealer just gave you different rims.
I really like the red, better than the burgundy they have (it looks like poo) and eh man, my day was good, yours?

lol

dave, you have the fx4 rims. since they didn't offer that package to you yanks after 08 or 09 they became xlt options as well.

francis, yours are the xlt base rim. they came on 08+ xlt 4x4 and sports 4x4 equiped trucks.

i have francis' on mine. they came stock with it.

@ Francis. Thats cool man. Mine has the sport package also which is what I'm guessing you call the offroad pkg? Yeah I don't care for that "burgundy" either. In fact what I really wanted was that metallic dark shadow gray which was the same color as the one I traded in. (See my pics). But I waited untill it got to close to the model end year end, so I "settled" for the torch red. They actually found this one about 200 miles away and did a dealer trade for it. I could have found one closer, but they all had that 60/40 seat and I wanted bucketts. Mine is also a stick which is OK, but I kinda wish it was auto. Plus (help me here Morris) I think my '08 had a few more ponies under the hood. Peace to my buddies in the "Great White North". 225

Thanks Paul me likey too. @ Morris. Thanks. For some reason I was thinking the 08 was around 225 hp, but I'm probably wrong and too tired to look it up. I will say this though, the K/N filter must be worth a little something 'cause my 08 was deffinately a little perkier. But it was an automatic, so apples and oranges I guess. Plus I guess with the skid plates and stuff the sport is a bit heavier. IDK. I'm not planning on racing it anyway. I did get 19 mpg on my first tank of gas which thrilled me . The best my 08 ever got was about 17. That was 19 with a lot of hwy miles though, but I seldom do much city driving.
