XJ Lift Round 2
XJ Lift Round 2
So this is my girlfriends 1999 XJ that you may have seen before.
It is a retired Michigan State Police K9 unit. When it was bought, it sat super low (lowered by the police i believe, all of their Jeeps sit really low)

Soon after it was purchased, we put new 4 leaf packs on the rear with new coils and 1 7/8" coil spacers in the front. It looked good, the front was still a little low, but the handling of the vehicle with the spacers was undesirable. So today we installed Rough Country 3" lift coils and 3" shocks. The front is a little high for the time being, but I think it will settle a little bit. Also, for as long as she has owned it, there has been a clunking type noise in the front end i could never find, so today i removed the skid plate to find the sway bar bushings totally wasted, so those were replaced as well

The silver Jeep in the comparison shots is stock height with 225/75R15
And the lights on the pushbar are Lincoln Mark VII LSC lights
Total install time - 7.5 hours includes painting the underside black, axle removal, coil and shock install, sway bar bushing install, wash and wax, remove and wax rims and caps, clean interior
today was a busy day!
thanks for looking!

well, its the girlfriends Jeep and she is all about purple (hence the purple Jeep) so when i was buying the shocks and saw they had purple boots, i couldnt get any other color
Sabrina worked really hard with me today, she decided at the end of the day that she never wants to be a mechanic!
Looks good. Get a set of lift shackles for rear and that should even it out. If you haven't already check out rustysoffroad.com. When I had my XJ I bought my 3" lift off their. His quality is great and he makes all kinds of stuff for jeeps.
if it doesnt settle any im gonna put shackles on it, im leary about getting the bolts for the shackles loose, theres a local place that deals with only Jeeps called Jeepers Creeperz that i like to deal with. Rustys has good stuff, but i have heard questionable things about the quality of their coil springs
