Please HELP ASAP! will 96 4 cyl work in 2000 that had 4 cyl

Will a 96 tranny out of a 4 banger (not sure if 96 had 2.3 or 2.5) work in a 2000 with 2.5 please pm me asap!

Dont hold me to this but I believe the tranny is the same btw gen3's used the 2.3 in 98 they went to the 2.5. In fact I am almost 100% sure now that I think about it. there was a guy with a gen3 who swapped in a 2.5 with his stock transmission.

Yes it will work just fine 2.3 and the 2.5 are the same block just different stroke ect.

Well, determined ya'll are right! Its the same transmission except that the 96' tranny has a speedo sensor on the tail of the tranny whereas the 00' tranny does not. Instead there is thing that looks like a freeze plug in its place. It took about two hours to get it out. It was actually easy to get out. I think i had more problems taking my tow hooks off of my truck than we did his tranny...lol
