i just joined this site and i have a few questions about things i have seen on peoples to do lists. do they help do they hurt what does it do what does it mean.

one guy had future mod was
for explorer ohc, does this mean the cam out of an explorer or the whole swap

another guy had that he would be removing his cat converter,what does this do

i have a 2wd with a lift and 3.55 gears in a 7.5, i put 255 70 16 and i know i need to re gear the rear but will the 3.73 do good or do i need the 4.10s

any help is greatly appreciated thanks all who apply

 

OHC= over head console w/ temp and directions plus other crap.. correct me if im wrong.. removing the cats will create less backpressure thus more torque.. how much lift? no sure of that tire size.... hell i'd just change out the 7.5 for a 8.8... plus i think u can only stick 4.10's in a 8.8 axle, but i could be wrong again

 

3.73 is fine

OHC out of explorer is Over Head Console.... like so...

 

do yall know of any specific cam replacements that would give me more umph. by the way i have only lifted the front 2 inches and put on a 3 in body lift. i did find some 4.10 for a 7.5 on ebay. the only 8.8 i have laying around has 3.08 in it. that would suck worse than the 3.55 i have now right. thanks

 

I have a 4.10 open diff if you're interested. It's actually the whole rear end, but I could pull the diff if you want it.

 

what would you want for just the diff
