Changing from 2.5 to 2.3, 01 4X2 ranger
I've read through most of the posts similar to this and uses search function. But just really want direct input on how hard or what obstacles I would have switching out blown 2.5 for a 2.3. And also if I found a newer 2.3 what would I run into putting that into my 01 standard cab RWD 4X2 ranger. Reason is I've found a lot of 2.3's with low mileage and few 2.5's mostly with high mileage. Someone please give me some good advice or direct me to a link that would. Thanks fellow Ranger lovers!!!

Rangers switched to the 2.3l DOHC Duratec engines in late 2001 and up
This engine is not related to the 2.0l/2.3l and 2.5l SOHC Lima engines used in Rangers from 1983 to 2001.
So you would need to change the transmission as well as computer and engine wiring harness if you went from 2.5l Lima to 2.3l Duratec engine.
You would be better off rebuilding 2.5l Lima

MUST be from 2.3l or 2.5l for the bell housing to match, 3.0l/4.0l will NOT match
And must be 4x2 trans
