Did you search? There have been a few threads recently about this.

Here is the best one. Lists all the parts.

you're probably an XL, so are completely different set up than those links.. Better luck selling it and buying a factory 4x4.

x2, less headache and you don't have down time while doing the swap.

they made 4cyl 4wd up to 96 i want to say? I know they had 95 cause i've seen it, and wanted it. Love that body style and dash.

Oh, and you're probably better off doing a SAS, it will be a ton easier i'm sure than sticking with IFS.

From another thread asking the same question:

There are 2 main options: IFS 4x4, SFA 4x4

Either way you will need the front axle, transfer case, suspension components, 4x4 transmission, and both drive shafts. Plus knowledge and tools.

If you have an XL or XLT with the coil spring suspension (best identified by chrome bumpers or flat black bumpers) to have IFS 4x4 you would have to swap to a 4x4 frame that has the torsion bar suspension. The frame has to have the same wheel base as your current frame. There are 3 wheel bases. Extended cab, single cab short bed, and single cab long bed. It should also be from the same year bracket, 98-03. It should also be from the same engine but since you have a 2.5L and there were no 2.5L 4x4s you will need to do some work with that also.

Or for solid front axle 4x4 you can have any Ranger and you cut off the whole front suspension and mount a solid axle from a solid axle vehicle like a Jeep or an old F-150 from the 70s.

If you didn't understand any of the above text you have zero business thinking about doing a 4x4 swap.

4 bangers were available with 4x4 in regular cabs until 96.

OP's truck will have coil suspension, which cannot be converted to 4x4. His 3 options are to either buy a 4x4, swap chassis, or do SAS. Unless he had a Trailhead, which is basically an Edge, which from what I have read, can be converted to 4x4 with 4x4 parts.
