Loss of power

I have a 2.5 and 5 spd. Ok, every once and a while when i accelerate, my truck seems to loose power and slow down. I then let up off the gas and push it again and it usually takes off. What could be going wrong? Is it the motor, tranny, rearend or what? It is starting to bother me.

Clogged catylatic converter is my guess. Unless you're putting a heavy load on the engine, and sucking the stock intake tube closed(that happens to me with the thunderbolt intake box and the stock tube).

I mean, it would be putting a load on the engine heavily because of the stock gears with the bigger tires would it?

you are making the engine work harder when adding larger tires which in turn lowers your final drive ratio. But it could be possible that the new tires brought the problem to light...before it was barely noticeable?

Rear cats like to clog up i understand...i've got one partially clogged causing 'loss of power' at high rpm...even with my good intake installed. I know i don't have a 2.5, but it applies to all the engines.

Ya, i think I barely noticed it with the stock tires. So, how bad is it going to be to replace the cat? When I get the 4:10's in will that make it not as noticable again?

if you dont have smog take the cat out and put some pipe in there, would be the cheapest and easiest way

prob the best thing to do is to get it hooked onto a diagnostic machine to find out if it is indeed the converter. and if it is clogged, it will eventually completely clog and will cause serious engine problems

fuel filter or jus cut the cat off and beat it with a hammer and then weld it back on. Me and my friend cut his cat off and beat it and got a ****load of stuff out and welded it back on and he passed inspection yesterday so jus be cheap.
