88 fuel sending unit replacement search
Hi. I have a 1988 Ford Truck Ranger 2WD 2.0L 2BL 4cyl with manual transmission. I am looking for a fuel sending unit. My unit had a two pin electrical connection and one fuel line. I am unable to find a replacement. Everyone I fnd has a 4 pin electrical connection and connections for two lines. Any one know where I can find a replacement. I have been searching pull a part. Also how can I find out if other models have compatible parts?

The 1988 rangers should have all used the low pressure pump(7psi) in the tank, and the old 73-10 Ohms senders, 1989 and up use 16-158 Ohms senders.
But when Ford added fuel injection they added a high pressure pump in the frame rail and a Return line from engine to tank, the second connection you are finding, that will certainly be more common since most Rangers were fuel injected in '88.
So worse case would be to get the 4 wire/2 hose in tank assembly and block off the return connection, just cap it, and use your old 2 wire connector spliced on new assembly.
Although there should be 4 wires at the tank, 2 for Fuel pump, 12volts and Ground, and 2 for fuel gauge sender, 5 volts and ground.
