Uhg again! Heater valve woes.......

Second one that has broken in half while driving down the road.

Anyone else having continued failures with this?

I've had one leak a little, but never snap off like that. Maybe you're tightening those hose clamps too tight? The springy type should put enough pressure on it alone.

Save yourself some grief and stop buying the $20 AutoZone/Advanced/OReilly specials. The OE Ford valves will begin to leak eventually but are usually good for 7~10 years.

Sorry, but wrong answer on that one. I've been driving these for 17 years and had 13+ rangers and I've had one fail on more than 75% of them.... all oem. I'm TIRED of buying OEM ones.

I've only had problems 1 time, in my '96 2.3L about 3 years ago. It was the original valve and I put a cheap autozone valve in it, and haven't had a problem since.

My '04 3.0 still has the original in it.

x2. The only problem I had with mine was that the rubber diaphragm got a leak after about 10 years so my A/C kept defaulting to defrost.

I also agree with over tightening those hose clamps.

In the pics the hot water valve looks like its routed kind of close to the exhaust manifold. Is the discoloration on the valve due to antifreeze or heat?
