The Power of the 2.5L

Well, this weekend I had a bachelor party weekend in some pretty intense terrain. I was quite suprised at how the lil guy did! I don't know how many of you know the terrain up towards Galena, Il but hills were near 60-70 deg. climbs, and with the back stuffed full of 9 guys' camping equip. I only had one problem with one hill. I wish I could have had a camera. Maybe after some pictures get loaded on facebook I'll post em up.

The pond.
I think the hill in this picture was probably the easiest. For reference the guy in the red shirt is about 6' tall.

60-70 degree hills? Hmm... I doubt it man. Sorry. It is a decent little motor for what it is though! I use dto pull my buddy's 17' Glasstron boat with my truck. The only problem I had was at the boat ramp, pullling it out of the water. Granted, that was with 3.73's though. Now the truck has 4.10's, but I haven't had to use the 98 at all since I've had a 4.0..

I wouldn't say that it ran perfect. It dogged down quite a bit, but yea 60-70 was prolly one hill. I guess exageratted a lil.
After getting my protractor out here at work...I'd say clost between 45-50
But multipile times all I could see just dirt in the rearview.

EDIT: We also had an old ****** jeep on the property too. (4 cyl also) It had problems with some of the hills I made fine and vise versa. And I didn't have all the equip in my truck all the time we unloaded it when we went wheelin. Just to make that clear.

Right on, thats what I had! Lol. I'll tell you what, I really like my 4.10's. The truck seems to idle around off road a little better now. If I want to creep along slowly, it doesnt want to kill the engine like it used to.

What kind of mileage do you get? I was able to knock off 25-26mpg if I drove it sanely. I have no idea what I get with the 4.10's, I've put at most 50 miles on it since I swapped in the 4.10's. The truck has been in a slowwwww recoup process.

Damn! I used to think that that was all my truck got, but I kinda backed off, and started driving like I wanted to get some mileage, and I was really surprised to be getting that kind of distance out of it. Hence why I'm going back to driving the damn thing. The everyday power of the 4.0sohc is nice, but I miss the mileage. Besides, I felt at home, nice and cosy in the regular cab lol.

Yea, I don't know whats up with it. Even with the 31's and me driving like p.o.'d teenager the milage only drops about 1 mpg.
And x2 about the reg cabs. extended caps wierd me out.

Nice dude. Ya, the 2.5 is not bad. Mine hates my 31's though when I try to go up a big hill when I am playing. I really need to fine me some 4.10's for the thing. I dont know about you but when I played yesterday going up a hill, it made like weird noises like a pop every once and a while from the motor.
