94 2.3 random starting issue

Hello everyone i'm new to posting but have looked thru these forums for help and found nothing so far that has fixed this problem.

Ok so here goes. its a 94 ranger 2 wheel drive 5 speed.

Parts replaced thus far: plugs and wires, battery, starter, alternator, ing. switch, fuel relay, finder wall solenoid.

parts inspected: fuel filter, fuel pump, battery cables, mass air flow, air filter, wires to and from starter and ground, all fuses, throttle body.

parts adjusted: throttle cable, some ground connection, fuse-able link between solenoid and starter.

ok so here is the problem. there is not a set condition when this happens its rather random. you'll go out to the truck get in and go to start it the solenoid will engage, the starter will engage and the motor will turn really slowly, sometimes it will do nothing like the battery is dead, or you'll just here clicking, some times even the spark plugs will sound like they are sparking. now when it does this i can roll it back say 2 feet and let the clutch out and press it back in real fast and it will start.

well thats the problem but here is the funny part. i can go out sometimes and it works like new. no problem at all, and it can do this up to a week sometimes.

so i'm hoping someone out there can help me i have spent hours looking thru these pages and getting ideals of what to look at. some times when i would change the parts or make adjustments it would work for the day then right back to the problem.

even though you have clutch pushed in, make sure transmission in neutral as your clutch may be dragging.

after so much trail and error i have found the problem and fixed it. it seems over time that the ground points had gotten weak. i put a jumper wire from the negative side of the battery to the firewall and everything worked as advertised. so i installed a permanent link between these 2 and everything worked great.
