93 Motor in 95?

93 Motor in 95?
Well my 95 Ranger has a bad motor. I found a 93 motor and 2 5-speed trannies for $500 they have 100,000 miles on them. All 3 came out of a 93 Ranger. Motor is the 2.3L 4cyl. which is what my 95 is. All I need is the motor though but with mine being a 5-speed I'm going to go ahead and buy it all. IF I can find out whether this 93 2.3 will bolt up in my 95 2.3L ranger. Does anyone know?

NO NO NO NO NO they changed a BUNCH of stuff from the model year 94 to the model year 95. The OBD2 stuff showed up for the 95 model year in which they changed a bunch of the electronics on the front of the engine. The crankshaft position sensor is a COMPLETELY different style. They also added a camshaft position sensor that your 93 doesn't have on the auxiliary shaft. Your crank position sensor will not bolt onto the 95 engine. It is possible to use it, but you have to precision drill and tap the holes in the front of the block for your crank position sensor, but it has to be in the EXACT same location or it will not read correctly.
The accessory brackets are also different and I don't know if the 95 has the correct mounting holes to reuse your mounting brackets. And you will need to use the 95 intake manifold or at least be sure the ports line up correctly and are the correct shape on the head.

I've seen 1995's with and without OBDII, as well as a few that had both style data connectors but were still using EEC IV.
There may also have been a trans model change between 1993 and 1995?
The parts book shows many changes from 1994 to 1995, including bearings, cam sensor type, and block.
There's also a difference in the oil pan due to the main bearing saddle dimension change and a new oil pump part number.
