98 Ranger Timing Belt/Tune Up

Hi guys,

Wondering if you can give me some guidance here. I have 98 Ranger 2WD w/ the 2.5 engine. I bought the truck used about a year ago. It has about 149k miles on it. I'm not sure if the previous owner did the TB or anything else for that matter.

So, here are my questions. What maintenance do you guys recommend that I do along with the TB?

Also, what parts do you recommend i.e. genuine Ford or are the comparable aftermarket that is just as good? Are there any vendors on this forum that I can buy these parts at a cheaper price? If you have any links, please post them. I'm a noob on this forum, so I apologize in advance for all the questions. I tried searching before posting a thread but could not come up with much.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

First of all. Buy Ford parts. And i would do the TB and all normal maintenance such as oil air filter plugs wires, stuff like that
