Wreck recovery (WARNING:lots of pictures)

Ok this is my first post
ive had 3 rangers over the course of 6 years my first was a 1988 2.3l 5 speed, very poorly maintained, but i learned how to drive with it, it was sitting in the bushes in my dads vehicle graveyard, i dragged it out of the bushes, aired up the tires, put in oil, and gave it a little gas and it cranked right up, i drove it and maintained it up to the point hwere i had to get under the hood every time i drove it, then when i turned 16 i got a 1984 4x4 v6 ranger, yet again very poorly maintained but i loved it to death even tho the driveshaft was about to fall out from under it, i made alot of my early high school memories in it if you know what i mean
but here i was with a job, i payed my parents back comepletely, i wanted to sell it and get a motorcycle due to the rising gas prices but a few days before i could make the trade my mother sold it under my nose and made my step dad buy another truck and gave me his extremely well maintained 1990 4 banger (talk about whipped) i hated it at first because for 1 it couldnt go anywhere that the 4x4,so i ended up moving out with my best friend, wether shes my mom or not she sold my truck that i payed for, payed insurance and gas but after i realized what i had i fell in love with it, a little 4 cyl truck that could spin on dry pavement all the way to 3rd and could go up to about 90 on the highway (yeah i drove th **** out of it) got pulled over 4 times because of it, never got a ticket cause my step dad was a city policeman
This was my 1990 2.3l 4-banger

Somebody was courteous enough to leave there brights on while im going 60 around georgias sharpest curve, and not even stopping
my left rear tire inded up in the dirt and sent me bouncing in betwee nthe road and the trees for about 70 yards, no seat belt, flipping sidways about 6 times and 15 feet in the air( just an estimation seeing as the trees where missing there other half about that high up) i crawled out with my back looking like a cutting board and a limp but not realy hurt, because of this i lost my job, and my transpotation obviously, along with that a good chunk of my social life, and i had to move back in with my parents
ok and the reason im here, despite the looks of the truck the base fram is still in tact and the only visible engine damage was the air filter box was shattered, i plan to cut off the doors, the top half of the cab where the windshield starts and possibly the bed and get this bad *** kitten on the road again, but theres one problem.. it wont crank, i know you think im crazy by now but i know its doable, i crawled back into it when i back was bendable again and turned it over a few times, it cranked for for about 3 seconds and quit, i figured this was because the filter box, but i took one of an explorer and slapped it on so i tried again after now it makes a whining sound while its turning over, i think it has something to od with electrical, theres a good chace the fuse box was damaged seeing as its in between the frame and the filter housing, so seeing as i have a back ground wth rangers and i have nothing better to do i figured this would be the place to get help

uh well i didnt plan on enjoying it but its more of a point a to point b thing, i dont realy plan to make it legal (tail lightes n other ****) i know as soon as they see a truck that looks like it took a shortcut under a 18 wheeler there gonna pull it over just out of curiosity, and yes its a realy crazy/stupid idea but the only alternative is my first truck which the engine is being held together with dried oil, ive already tried ti get it running again but its hell bent on sitting in the paster watching cows all day ,if i had the money id just take the engine and transmission out of the crumpled beer can up there and put it in the other one, problem is i dont have a job anymore, im living off my parents again, i get 3 dollers every two days for freakin snacks, so this is what im left with a intact frame and engine, one garden ornment for spare parts and and a brokedown explorer down the road i dont even own that i can steel stuff out of trust me ive tried every other option possible, i was stuck on a couch for a good month from being sore, ive had time to think

You must have hit your head pretty hard during the roll over, but im glad the rest of you seems to be okay now. Just messing with ya. But seriously, I dont think ANYONE can fix an engine over the internet. Plus if you do get it running id be skeptical of everything else mechanical on the car. Rolling 7 times and cracking trees off tends to knock stuff out of alignment...Motor mounts could be broken, driveshaft out of alignment, wheel alignment gone to hell, and other things hard to detect by quick visual inspection. But if youre really bent on having it running again i would stop snacking for a couple months so you can save up and have a mechanic take a look at it.

Sorry about the truck and goodluck with everything. Also, welcome to R-F.

Damn! Your truck looks like my buddy's '92 looked when he fell asleep and did a 1.5-rev barrel roll. Glad you made it out though. I understand how you want to would want to fix up the truck, but even if you got it running, you'd have problems with it until the day you scrapped it. With the abundance of used Rangers on the market, you can find a cab/engine/drivetrain configuration that will suit your needs in almost any price range. Even if you need to spin a wrench once in a while, it will still be less work (and likely cheaper in the long run) than fixing up the beer can! Good luck!

Ouch... good to see you made it out intact. You can definitely find a nice cheap ranger out there... just start saving up that snack money. Welcome to the site.

That truck is shot. I doubt it would ever drive strait IF you could fix the other damage. What is the other truck you spoke of. You might look into doing the motor swap.

(redefining "tearin up the road")
altough i dont know if id fair better in that scenario considering no seatbelt was involved, i was injured but it wasnt from the truck, i carry a knife on my belt under my shirt and it decided it would come it wanted some fresh air, while the truck was tumbling, but you shold see what my back did to the knife :D

Size: 13.2 KB keep in mind thats had 3 weeks ot heal .the only reason i slowed down this time was to change stations on my satillite radio but thanks for welcoming me but realisticly i have get the engine running if im gonna do the engine transfer but hypotheticly the drive train looks intact and even tho the tires in the left side where shredded, and the rims are shot the brakes are still intact and aligned so naturally when i get hte engine running im gonna gonna throw it in gear and see how far i get just for ****s n giggles,
this was my 2nd ranger, the one that got sold for 1200 without me knowing
and to introduce myself

more than likely yeah but i wrecked inside the curve, if it was due to speed should i have gonna outside?
regardless anyone reading this obey the speed limit n wear your seatbelts i dont wear my seatbelt cause one of my friends i hold as dear as a sister would of died if she where wearing hers but thats still not a good reason. and i speed because im a dumbass so love your rangers' thell love you back :P mine cared enough not to throw me out (my hands where stained black from gripping the steering wheel)

not to seem like i am flaming, but the argument "i would have died with a seatbelt" is a stupid one.

whether you claim your friend would have "died" is about as dumb of an argument as "i don't wear a motorcycle helmet, cuz it can decapitate you in an accident"

buckle up. always. no if's, and's, or but's...

continue to drive recklessly, ignore the law(buckling up), and you will die(or be seriously injured). that simple. and you look pretty young, so don't waste your life. wear a seatbelt.
