displacement ?
the 2.3l Bore is 3.520 in (89.4 mm) and stroke is 3.126 in (79.4 mm) for a total of 1994 cc displacement
the 2.5l is stroked (by 7 mm) making it a 2.5l
does this mean i can just drop on a 2.5 head to my 2.3???

"All 2.0/2.3/2.5 heads will physically bolt in place of each other, they all have similar
exhaust port shape and placement. All cams are interchangeable as long as they
are used with the proper followers. Later model ('95 and newer) roller cam
followers cannot be easily swapped onto an older head as the valve stem size was
reduced in the newer heads and matching slot in the follower was reduced.
Early 2.0 and 2.3 heads have the same small round intake ports spaced evenly apart, they
differ from each other in their valve sizes though
.
There are several variations on the 2.3 heads though they break down into 4 distinct types:
1. Passenger car oval port heads-’74-’80 Mustang, Pinto, Fairmont, Bobcat, etc.
2. Passenger car D-port head-’81-’95? T-bird, Mustang, Etc.
3. Truck round port- ’83-’85 Ranger
4. Truck D-port- ’89-’01 Ranger. The '89-'94's and '95-'01's have different combustion chambers and ports. IMHO, the newer head is better designed"
so basicly what i got from that is all 2.0, 2.3, and 2.5l heads are interchangeable and this should bolt on without any problems???
anyone want to prove me wrong????

yur right info is tight on this... someone else must have had the idea of this frank motor and done this swap i wish they would come forward and share there knowledge with us???
what year is your ranger?

i think this might be the answer to our questions
"If the 2.3 has a dual plug head, then yes, it will fit the block. You'll need the 2.5 intake and throttle body for that head.Is it worth it,I'm not sure.It is good for a turbo."

would the cc chambers be smaller then the 2.3 head? if thats so it would lower compression and be better for turbo and not N/A..i have a 9.4.1 compression ratio and thats high but its a 4 banger and they are always higher. As for intake and that does that mean the 2.3 sensors will work...i would think so, dont think anything was swapped between the 2 rather then main compents...
And good info...what forum did that come from lol..

no im not sure if the cc would be smaller or im not sure if the sensors would work lol i imagine there all the same and i found this great little turbo ranger forum http://rangersrevenge.com/ check it out

do you need a 2.3 head?
i have the head off my 97 that threw a rod, the motor only had 149k on it.
i am putting a 2.5 in my 97 soon, im just trying to get the money for it.
as far as i am told, the 2.5 is a direct swap, you just use the accessory's from the 2.3
