EGR valve and gasmileage ?

Hi,

I'm a newbie and I own a 97 ford ranger 2.3L 4 cyl.

I recently changed my EGR valve and DPFE and some others thhings like Fuel filter, air filter, canister purge solenoid and flow sensor...

I noticed that my gas mileage went very bad after the maintenance. I'm pretty sure I ordered the correct EGR valve (part # CX1740) and DPFE at tascaparts.com but I read this morning on this autoparts website http://www.sarad.com/productinfo.asp...nger&en=2.3+L4 that the EGR valve doesn't fit my 97 ranger.

Today, my car runs great and so far no big problems besides gasmileage.

My questions are:

1- bad gas mileage due to wrong EGR valve ?
2- what can I do to increase my gas mileage ?
