Alternator

Found out recently i need a new alternator. when i start my truck it makes a whining noise and so i took the belt off and turned the truck on and the noise was somewhat gone so then i spun the alternator pulley and it made the noise so i'm kinda pissed.

It's a pretty easy job. Good thing you found a decent used one .

Motorcraft. the one i got at the junkyard was also a Motorcraft. the original alternator that i replaced lasted 11 years and in the end was still putting out juice.. ..the bearings were going bad so it made a helluva noise! after i took it out the thing seized within a week of sitting on my bench...

why buy a new one? just go to your local boneyard

I recently got my alternator changed. First I tried doing it myself but got confused in the middle of the process so I took it to the local repair shop and it ended up costing me $333.00 and they didn't even replace it with a brand new alternator they used a refurbished one. I was pretty pissed.

cchsbuzz19,

What do you mean by "...got confused in the middle of the process"?
