new exhaust and truck runs like crap

ok so i ripped my exhaust off my 98 2.5 2wd 5sp wheelen the other night by accident and so i got a new muffler today dynomax turob somethign i dont know it was like 40 bux and it ok, i had a set on an old sho i had, so well i do that and had a kid in the collision part of shop weld it up for me, and i know he never disconnectd the battery cuz the clock is still right but i wanna know why is my truck running like crap now, it has no pick up under 3300 studders when i take off in first (im very capeable of driving stick) and just kinda surges at a constent throttle, im thiking that possible a bad plug one out of 8 i have lol, or i donno what, i did flop a check engine code last week and they were
p50455- evap gross leak detected
p0401- egr in suffent flow def.

well i red the post bout the evap and its def not my gas cap so now what i think is happening is my egr valve is ****ting the bed cuz now its running like crap.... so i donno any ideas? i have a 500 mile trip on saturday so i need them soon

i doubt it, i can smell the weld buring/muffler breaking in and it smells bad lol but i dont think he did that he would have had to weld a pretty big hole to clog it up...

Not sure if 98's are like later models. The evaporative cannister and some piping are up over the spare tire. Some guys with later models have had the plastic piping that feeds it damaged by hot aftermarket exhausts (mostly duals) but somebody could have melted it welding also. I'd check it out under there. It would fit the "gross leak" code you got. That could lead to a vacuum leak which will screw up how the engine runs.

Check all the piping between the gas tank and the cannister, and if a pipe runs direct from the cannister to the engine, that one especially.
