HELP ME P0171

my dad has a 00 ranger 2.4 we already replaced the aic cuss the ac didnt work now it does but now whenever we drive the truck it idles high, like it stays high when you let off the gass and when its idle its at 1500rpm ?? what can we do to fix this ?? we already cleaned the faf and replaced the air filter i also have a scan tool so you guys can tell me what to look for

what did you use to clean the MAF? make sure it really is clean.
check PCV valve .

a 00 ranger has a 2.5, the code is a lean code, you probably have a vacuum leak somewhere. get a can of carb clean and spray the throttle body to intake gasket, the iac to throttle body gasket, the intake to head gasket and check everywhere for a vacuum leak. when you spray the carb clean, the engine speed will change when you find the leak

sure you dont have a 2.5L lol rangers never came with 2.4L maybe thats the problem
