rough idle at cold temp it seems.....

i bought a 91 ranger a month or so ago. ran fine and smooth.

since then i replaced the filter and had the battery switched out. now its running rough the first 5mins or so and then back smooth. now i cant even get it to start. shakes the whole truck when trying to start.

what am i to do? does this thing have a map sensor? and help is welcomed.

Sounds like the IAC to me. (Idle Air Control) its like a choke, its meant to help the truck run smoother when its cold. It can be pulled off and cleaned with carb cleaner, they get gummed up with carbon.

yes i have noticed that mentioned in other threads. the only problem is all the pictures i found of this IAC is on newer trucks. does anyone have a picture of one that goes to my year truck?

i think i found it anyways without pictural help. i smacked this thing near the throttle body and MAF and it helped. but still would like to see a picture.

ive also have another problemo. the brakes worked fine but now i have virtually no brake pedal. i have plenty of fluid and i dont see any leaks. any ideas?

If you can take a picture of your engine and we should able to show you. If you hit something by the MAF and TB and it helped your probably on to it. If its getting stuck whacking it could help like you mentined.
